They small misshaped red dots under the skin all over my body. When I press on them they don't disappear. I have had them for about three years and they are getting worse. It started on the top of my thighs. I noticed them after coming out of a hot bath. They are more prominent after a hot bath, they tend to disappear once I've cooled down but some have started to stay permanently and it's getting worse. They are not itchy and it doesn't affect my health. I have seen a skin dermatologist and he said it was due to lack of sunlight and recommended that I use the hospitals sun bed several times to clear it. I have done this and it has not resolved the problem. I also underwent blood tests but nothing came up?? I am currently now living in Korea which has plenty of sun and I ensure I allow my skin to be exposed to plenty of sunlight...But nothing has changed and I am really concerned as it is spreading all over my body now and is starting to look concerning., especially after a sauna. Some help, advice or diagnostics would be very appreciated.
It sounds like a type of purpura. I get it from taking steroids which is not your case. It is actually bleeding under the skin. It can be caused by vit C deficiency and several other things too, including taking cocaine. Mine is mainly on my arms, then those fade and new ones come. My GP checked my blood platelet count which was fine.
Yes, I have had a look into that and it doesn't seem the same...surely my doctor or skin dermotolgist would have said that? How long have you had yours? has it spread over time? does it appear worse in hot baths? How do you feel generally?
As I said mine is caused by steroids. Reducing the steroids means it has improved. My GP did not have a clue what it was. After a year I saw a vascular surgeon who told me it was the steroids, as it is a vascular problem in that there is bleeding under the skin. Are you saying that you have not got red dots under the skin but something different? Purpura is not the disease it just means "purple" in Latin and refers to red or purple marks that do not change if pressed. It can be caused by a lot of things.
