I have vaginismus, it is really painful

Hello

Female 22 years old.

I am 99.9% sure I have it since everything written about it I can relate to in terms of sexual experience. With that said, it is 99.9% certain the doctor will tell me the exact same diagnosis.

For those of you who have had vaginismus (or currently have), which was/is the most effective treatment?

How many different treatments did you try (before the one that worked best)?

How long did it take until you got rid of it completely? and

When did you start feeling pleasure after the treatment?

Please also inform me of your experience at the doctors going though with the treatment etc.

Please help! I feel like I am in the middle of the desert with that topic.

I am keeping an eye out for your advice!

Cheerios!

Vaginismus is a conditioned refles of the vaginal musculature. As such to quote Pavlov, what is conditioned can be unconditioned. First ask around your female friends for a gynecologist that that know is gentle, kind and who will perform a slow, unhurried examintion. see if he or she can perform a bidigital vaginal examination. There are gynecologists who slather up with ky jelly and thrust forward as if to overcome resistance. Such invasions reinforce the fear are are unhelpful. As a former professional. i acan attest that this is a reversible condition.

Next find a psyvhotheraoist that you can trust. If a complete , total and all encompassing history, to include your sexual history but more importantly find if there were traumas or rigid belief systems instilled in you by family, moral traing and a sense of guilt by you to early self explorations of your body encoimpassing unpleasant or guilt laden experiences.

In the right hands [no pun intended] your condition is reversible.

This combination may be difficult to find but do not ever give up.

i speak from much experience but i do not any longer reside in the U.K.,i cannot give you referals.

Group therapy exploring your values and upbringing is also a recommended treatment aid.

Bear up, you have a reversible condition. I know by experience.

I suggest reading the wikipedia review of Ivan Pavlov.Embedded in this thorough and informative article are revealed ideas that may see your vaginismus reflected in Pavlovs work . He used external stimuli[ a bell sound in one experiment] to study changes in dogs and frogs upon  the anatomical and physiological changes by direct observation. He was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work.

To summarise, the brain in humans stores and records our life experiences. Some are known ,otheres reside in the unconscious area of the brain and are not easily ot readily recovered.

I always wondered what scientific discoveries would have been hastened or discovered If Freud and Pavlov could have collaberated in their research.

Good luck. You have a treatable condition.
