I just started having to deal with this anxiety disorder thing about 4 months ago. It is hell! I had my latest anxiety attack on Monday, BUT what's freaking me out is it is now Thursday and I'm STILL having some of the symptoms! Does anyone else have their attacks go on for days like this?
Yes, I have had an "attack" or a persistent state of anxiety for over a week. My main symptom was chest tightness and pain that went into my shoulder/arm, which is very frightening to say the least. But alas, I am fine now and you will be too. Try meditating and clearing your mind.
Hi Kennedy,
Thank you so much for your response!! It has made me feel much better! Do you have your anxiety attacks very often?
I have “off” days quite often when I just don’t feel myself and I’ll have some physical symptoms, I’m not sure if you’d consider that an attack. I do not get severe anxiety attacks/panic attacks very often luckily.
Do you take any anti-anxiety medication?
No, I don’t. I am a bit afraid to try it out. I go to therapy though, it seems to have helped a bit. Do you take any medication?
Yes, I have symptoms last for days after a major attack. Sometimes I can brush off an attack and keep going. Sometimes a severe attack will lay me up for days because my body is in so much pain, stiff, and can't breathe correctly.
Meditation helps, it has many benefits, relieve from stress and anxiety being among them.Meditation helps me to become more peaceful and more focused, less worried and more attentive to my own mind. Here are the steps how I meditate:
1. Find a meditation area free from noise, bright lights and other distractions.
2. Sit on the floor or in a comfortable chair with your back straight and your chin down.
3. Breathe in and out through your nose and focus your attention on your breath. If your attention wanders, simply bring it back to your breathing.
4. Continue breathing until your timer rings.
A symptom I had recently felt as though an elephant was sitting on my chest, and a vice was clamped tight on each of my shoulders. My arms felt as though I'd been pumping iron all day. Needless to say I thought I was having some kind of cardiac arrest. It passed after (a very long( half an hour, yet it seems most likely to occur when I'm in a relatively good state of mind - unlike now I'm afraid to say.
