I just had to share my Excitement

Since I joined this group, I have received some valuable information from all of you. For that I thank you! I started seeing a new Therapist about a month and a half ago. I really think she is going to be the one to help me. I also found a really great dietitian for the food allergies. I got my Mindfuness book in that I ordered. I will start on it tomorrow. I also got a book called Anger, as we have discovered a deep anger towards my mother that I did not realize was still there.

One of the things I have noticed in me is that I have a REAL problem with Abandonment. So in doing some research on that I came across Avoidant Personality Disorder. When my Therapist called to check on me, yes she really did that, I told her about this disorder and how a lot of it sounds like me. She said we will look into it, and if that is what I have, we will have to change some of the ways she is giving me for treatment. In my case, this would explain why I have had anxiety and phobias for the last 40 years, and Agoraphobia.

I am sharing this with all of you because I feel like I finally see some relief of this constant anxiety. And so maybe some of you long time sufferers can research and maybe find what is going on with you. I have been through so many therapists that did not really help. And am excited to have finally found a good one. Also, one thing I have learned in all this time, is that no one can fix us. They can give us tools to help us get through it, they can help us get to the root of the problem, and they can be there for support. But it is up to us to do the work. It is not easy, but if you are given homework, or a task to do, please do it. It will help you. I did not get this way overnight, and know I will not get better overnight. But I will keep trying to get better. Every small step is an accomplishment!!! Thank you all for being here to give help, advice, and hope. XX

Hello Bonnie, It's really good to hear that your dealing with your difficulities and being very positive. I am glad that you have felt the benefit of a good therapist. As you say we are given the tools but it's up to us to do the hard work. It's also good to hear that you have received some valuable information from people on this forum. Hoping you continue in your recovery.

Best wishes.

Elizabeth.

Hello Bonnie

So pleased for you, and your post on this site will give encouragement to others.  Which is what everyone needs.  There is light at the end of the tunnel!  I wish you continued progress, and hope that others will benefit too, as you are completely right when you say that ultimately it is up to the individual to be positive.  Well done.

Thank you ladies! It is a journey, that is for sure. We HAVE to keep a good attitude so we do not lose outselves to this. And so others will still want to be around us. I have seen so much progress in myself, but not near free of it all. My heart goes out to all of those on here that seem to be stuck in misery. But we are all here to try to help one another, and get some support when needed. It is good to know we have someone giving us a little push when needed too Hugs
