Hi Firemanstalker
I wish you my best in trying for a baby at the outset of this post. I solution to your pain is obviously welcomed sooner than later with regard to how you will cope and how medication will affect you while pregnant.
Until I found this site, will putting in a string of words name \"excrutiating eye pain\" and so on I was concerned for my site, ie glaucoma (dad diagnosed with it) and so on. The doctor gave me Pizotifen for a couple of months. To no effect.
No doubt you keep a log of the dates and frequency and what level of pain the attacks are, and if managed if painkiller is used. You have probably been through everything you can try. I only get the eye pain, on and then maybe the other just for good measure. I am happier that I can put this down to migraine altough never get the migraine headaches, thankfully and I sympathise with anyone who suffers both eye and head. My doctor does and on seeing her I didnt feel so bad.
It is surprising how many people suffer with migraines with the additional eye pain. It is hell on earth, I know YOU can understand how I feel and hope posting on here makes you feel somewhat not alone in what you go through.
Mine follows pretty much a menstrual pattern and abstain from alchohol when nearing those times, drink more fluid and if needed have no guilt in taking a SYNDOL pill. As these are a antihistamine have proved more effective, trying to take ibroprofen initially as although the pain really must be stopped I dont wont to get caught in the Codeine trap and depend on them to much. Paramol worked with regard to making me sleepy and take the edge off the pain but I never felt it dealt with the knife like shooting pressure in my eye. On researching comparative shopping sites like Ciao and reading reviews worried about addictive nature of these.
Please keep going back and actually tell your doctor you plan to get pregnant and go into it prepared. It may be you are in a better state hormonally as the menstrual cycle wont be there. Get as much help as you can.
I feel to many days have been wasted laying down in bed just o keep my eye still. My Christmas 2007 was a washout, never letting this eye migriane get the better of me, going to outsmart it, cut it short before it gets hold and takes me for a 3 day, prodome, migraine, postdome phrase, finally awaking properly after 3 days on migraine treatment.
Pizotifen didnt work for me, each to a different drug in what works, I do hope you can find something that works for you. Thankfully this didnt appear until second child was 3, not a pregnancy issue for me.
Pizotifen helped me gain weight, you think you are in control appetite, you arent, getting it back down know, didnt want more weight giving me further health problems.
Steering away from red wine and trying to avoid late nights... Have you isolated what triggers you, can you avoid some???
You have managed it for so long know, please follow it up thoroughly beforehand and try and be in the best of health before you try for a baby.
I wish you all the best
