This was totally new to me and I'm not sure what I'm suffering from but I think its anxiety of sorts. I basically had a bit of a meltdown at work over the last week or so I've been thinking that I'm scrweing up a lot at work or being rude to other staff (I can be a bit sarcastic), as well as being stressed and a lack of sleep probably didn't help. I wasn't paticurarly happy at the start of my shift but I made a silly mistake and everyone had a laugh about it, expect me I started having hot flashes and was worrying a lot because of that mistake and ones that happened the day before etc, I then got called a name (as a joke) but at the time I couldn't tell because I was still worrying and this is basically what caused me to crack, moments later I was in tears thankfully I was working with someone who I'm good friends and they did there best to sort me out, I sorted myself out to an extant 15 mins later and carried on. Had a breif chat with my manager and reasured me I wasn't doing anything wrong, but I'm now worrying what will people think if they find out I had a meltdown at work?? Although I wouldn't be the first person to do that while at my work place. Thinking of taking rescue remedy around with me more often..
Hi will.. humiliation is not a nice thing to go through, especially when you are feeling under pressure & vulnerable to a work place where there is a number of people.. Lack of sleep would not be helping you to pace yourself during the day AT ALL.. we all have meltdowns when we are trying to cope with things beyond our expectations or needs.. you are human with feelings, senses etc., but if we push our limits, we crash & burn.. Dont let your anxiety take hold for to long.. A visit to your GP will be able to help you Im sure.. Take time out & relax - dont worry about what others are thinking, its YOU who is important here - wishing you well
Oh, this is horrible for you. Unfortunately, people do tend to herd together and mock the one person they perceive as weak.
Are there a lot of unpleasant people where you work, who enjoy humiliating others? I worked somewhere once where nothing I did was right (according to a couple of people) and I totally lost my confidence in my ability. I had been a midwife, in a senior position in a good hospital, and I was respected. For various reasons I started to work at a different hospital, and despite my years of experience, I began to feel that I wasn't even capable of stitching up women who had torn during delivery - which was nonsense - I'd been doing it for years! One of the more senior midwives decided to watch me stitching a patient, and told me that everything I was doing was wrong. I got to believing that she was right!!!
One night I delivered a baby - a completely normal birth - and someone was breathing over my shoulder CUT THE CORD!!! Like I didn't know how to do it.
The next day I actually passed out at work. They took me to the A & E. My husband came to pick me up. I vowed neveer to go back there - and I didn't.
