It started about 10 years ago. I got a shooting pain around my coxix, which was very intense & Lasted for around 20 minutes. About a week or so later, i recieved an instant migraine . Like Someone had hit me round the back of my head with a hammer. My GP sent me to the hospital For a scan & lumbar puncture. Results were ok. Around 4 years later i got this shooting Pain again, closely followed by the headaches. These episodes have gotten closer together as time has gone on & i now get these attacks a few times a week. I have only recently been diagnosed with 2 prolapsed discs. Does snyone else get these attacks? I can only describe the pain as Kieth Lemon described shooty arse. Where you get a shooting pain & you think, oh my god im gunna die, then its gone. I get the same pain but lasts around 40 minutes now, resulting me in well over medicating myself & passing out. With the amount of strong medication i'm taking, im getting palpitations, & now im in fear im going to have a heart attack. But without them im in so much pain. I have numb patches on my back, down my right arm & hand, i cant control my bladder or bowels anymore, i forget the most simplest of things. What can i do?
Hi Wizzboy.
It sounds like you have a disc issue which is causing your sciatic nerve to be compressed.
Have you had an MRI scan yet? if not you need to get one done ASAP to see where the issue is exactly.
More importantly, if you are unable to control your bowel or bladder then you need to see a GP urgently.
If you can't get an appointment in the next day or so I would suggest a trip to A & E.
Let me know how you get on or if you need any more help.

Hi sam thanks. I have had a MRI & was told my i have 2 prolapsed discs in my lower back. My main consern is the shooting pains i get which seem to be around the coxix area. My incontinence only happens if i cough or sneeze. The pain killers im on are really strong & make me dosile & lethargic.
Hi again.
I had exactly the sand problem a couple if years ago so I know how you feel.
My advice would be to try and work in the route cause of the problem as soon as the pain had reduced enough for you to move properly.
You can recover from a prolapsed disc without the need for surgery and injections etc.
It is a case if bringing your body back into balance.
