I'm too scared to eat, drink and sleep. Can someone help and relate please?

I got put on Sertraline 50mg a week ago for anxiety and depression. Ever since my anxiety has got so bad. I'm too scared to sleep incase I don't wake up, I'm scared to eat and drink incase I choke or it goes down my lungs and it'll turn into something life threatening. My chest has got tight recently and I'm having shooting pains in my breasts (heart/lungs) do you think this is related to my eating/drinking?

Hi sedgers

I know exactly how u feel, I have anxiety that comes and goes and it's here just now. I was put on venlafaxine which had helped my mood but not so much the anxiety.

I struggle to sleep as as soon as I lie down my heart starts racing, struggle to eat as as soon as I start eating my anxiety starts.

I would suggest going back to ur GP they

could maybe change your meds as the first one they tried me on didn't help just made me feel worse.

Hope things get better for you soon, it's an awful thing to suffer

X

I was also given sertraline but I could it continue taking it cuz it would give me more symptoms so I just stop taking it

Thankyou so much for your help! It is horrible, I hope yours gets better too x

hi, Sedgers. It seems your medication is not working well enough: you need to talk to your GP. I guess your anxiety is causing all the pains etc. but you need to check. Your doctor has seen it all before - don't be afraid to tell him everything.

Hi Sedgers

I tried two meds before I found the one that suited me.  It appears that SSRIU do not agree with me so I wsa put on Mirtaxipine which worked fromt eh first pill, it helped me sleep, I have started eating again and the anxiety only happens about twice a day.  Hope this is of help asnd good luck

Thankyou very much, I will make an appointment with my GP

Thankyou so much for your help! I may have to change my medication

Hi, this medication caused many serious side effects, very seriously and frightenly raising my anxiety, and made me feel absolutely crazy. It us known to cause a serious mental health condition called seratonon overload and was dangerously toxic for me. It took weeks to feel a sense of normalcy, after stopping this medication. Your body and mind may strongly be telling you to stop this medication. I talk with my pharmacist whenever I feel strong adverse or toxic overdose effects of medications. I thought I was losing my mind on this drug.

Hi, sedgers.

I was put on  Sertraline 50MG also. I took it for three days but halved the pills (25MG), on day three I had a very bad reaction to it. It didn't agree with my body so I stopped taking it and quit taking any other medication. I refuse to take any other medication since it happened. Personally, I don't think anxiety should be managed with medications unless it's extreme and people are fainting because of it (which is rare). Medication is a temporary fix. Therapy is the best way to go for anxiety. Of course that is your choice, though. Medication does help some people, but like I said, it's a temporary fix and personally I wouldn't want to be managed by medication, I would rather manage my anxiety naturally and then I don't have to suffer side effects or withdrawal symptoms. Sertraline is known to make your anxiety ten times worse for a while and it did just that for me as well. Wasn't worth it for me.

Keep us posted.

Thankyou so much for your help! unfortunatly I am one of those people who faint because of anxiety. I refuse to take any other medication too now because it just makes me worse. I will try natural ways and I hope they work for you too and that you'll get better!
