I messed up

Hi

I feel really low.

I stopped taking orlistat as i had a virus- and already had bad stomach

Symptoms- i then when on holiday and obviously wanted to eat

What i wanted to and have a bit of a break.

I now seem to have got out of the pattern of having the tablets and

Feel as if i'm addicted to food.

I keep trying to get a sugar fix. After i have it i feel guilty

Then the tempration starts again when i'm hungry.

I just feel i wish i could stop eating food entirely!

I feel it would be easier to give up drugs/drink/cigarettes as these

Can be cut out together but obviously we need food to live.

I enjoy the taste of food but also think i use it to cheer myself up.

I always tend to get down at the weekend. Paticularly sundays.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks

X

I know what you mean I love food!

How about eating 5 small meals a day, healthy meals.

Example museli and skimmed milk for breakfast or poached eggs on wholemeal toast, then a mid morning snack of rice crackers with houmous or ryvitta with cottage cheese, lunch - salad leaves, tomato, salmon, red onion or an avocado (olive oil and lemon juice dressing), mid afternoon snack of an apple or pear or natural yoghurt with honey and strawberries, then dinner of soup or 1/3 portion of wholemeal rice/pasta, 1/3 chicken, 1/3 veges). I know it's not the most amazing food in the world, but it means you get to eat every few hours and it's healthy food that sustains your energy level all day so you don't need to turn to sugary snacks.

You could give it a go. Also do you like exercising? Just a long walk or even 30 mins on the exercise bike is better than not doing any. This will help to speed up your metabolism, hence breaking down all the food you eat quickly.

Another thing I have found is the exercise and healthy eating has got rid of my low moods, because I feel quite healthy and losing weight makes you feel confident and happier.

Try one step at a time, maybe try one healthy dinner, followed by a healthy lunch and dinner the next day and so on.....Hang in there, it can be really hard work and really really depressing, but you have to be a little tough on your self knowing the rewards are life changing!

Thanks

Yeah i'm going to give it anothef go.

I exercise a lot. Today ran with the labrador

Then went swimming.

Started tablets again.

Hope doctor is supportive.

Thanks for your support xxx

Hi Have you tried keeping a food diary I found it helped as you can see exactly how much you have eaten and make adjustments.

I usually often take the tablets at the weekend but am quite sensible but do have sunday lunch with meat or chicken with chopped peppers, onion and mushrooms on top cooked in foil with olive oil sprinkled on it. I roasters cooked in the same way, but we don't have them every weekend and have a jacket potato.

Give yourself a treat once a week which will give you something to look forward to which helps you be good the rest of the time.

I know what you mean about food though I found I thought of nothing but food for the first 3 or 4 months but you have to be strong and remember what you want , then you will see results. Good luck :D
