I miss the old me

Anxiety has taken over my life. I once was an adventure driven teenager and now i get panic attacks from sitting in a desk. No cause. No triggers. I was so happy.

Same here. Heart racing random worries head won't stop shaking sweating butterflies in stomach.also feel awkward round people. Sometimes want to hide away. Anxiety and it's crippling. Talk to people here.good to know your not the only one.tell doc they can help it's so common and you could get back on an even path. May have bad days but will learn to cope and enjoy good days. Don't panic I've been there❤️Please get medical advice though it's so reassuring

yeah i went in for blood tests but won't here anything back for a few days. i feel comfortable and normal when i am around friends and family but then at school and public places i get really bad bouts of it. It came out of no where. i never had cases of anxiety and i've always been a calm collected and positive person and now i'm just the opppsite within a few days. i can't go walking with my dog anymore. i can't go have bonfires at the beach or go hiking. anyways thanks for replying it feels good just typing about this for me.

I understand where you are coming from, I got mine out of nowhere also. I am 27 years old and just from one day to the next Anxiety took over. Been working on it for two months now, but starting to feel a little defeated...I always look to my bible to read verses that will help ease my mind. Thats my go to lately. Nothing esle seems to work for me...

It can get better tell your doc you can't even get out to walk dog .i couldn't either .i think they see then it's ruining your life.dont be afraid tell everything. I did and they said it was common but different for each person. Seem so like me .would love to see you get on an even path. Taken me years but I understand and cope better now. Let me know how u get on . Know you can get a life again.everyone has illnesses we have this , sure it can be managed❤️

Hi there. I've had anxieties since my 20s. The first trigger was a death of a close friend. I seem to get control of it in a matter of months with meds. I was able to get off meds and function fine for years. Then last year I had a huge meltdown. I felt like every day I was just having one long panic attack. When you say it took you years to get it under control, was this with the help of medication? Its been a year for me and it's exhausting because I feel like I should be better by now. Especially since the first time I beat it after a few months. What are some of the things you did to make it better? I'm taking advice and suggestions anywhere I can get it. Just want to live a life rather than just get by. Thank you.

I feel your pain and frustration. I've been working on my anxieties for just over a year now. I too had a difficult time walking the dog. Stepping one foot out the door made me feel like I would pass out. I was truly living in hell. I have made progress though. I'm not 100% by any means but I'll take any improvement no matter how small. You can get through this. So many different treatment plans. One thing I've learned is not focus on why this happened or how this happened. I try and focus on getting better. How I can overcome this. But as advised in an eaier response, talk with your doctor or even better a psychiatrist. They see this quite often. If you don't want to try meds at this time you can see a naturopath. Hang in there.

I am so glad I found this page, it seems so helpful. My worst anxiety is feeling like I have some kind of illness. I think its because lately ive heard of a few people I know dying etc, smh

Saw my really good doc he put me on diazepam. Very small dose as he knows anything that calms me I may take more(who wouldn't I'd love to feel normal).avoided friends so mum pushed me to go out just for a coffee (vary weak not good for anxiety) . Mum took dogs out and I'd go on good days. Went to aa as people with anxiety drink to relax. Best thing I did talking to people who know how it feels . This built up my confidence .cant say enough talk to similar people❤️

Hun I am right here with you . Anxiety has taken over my life I am a 26 year old mother of two and I have completely changed. I really do nothing anymore the panic attacks hits me all at once ( at this moment I am writing you I am fighting one off)

Last night I was happy feeling fine watching a movie next thing I know I feel a panic attack coming on and I did fight it off before it got to bad. I'm going to give you tips things I do.

1. Talk to someone tell them you are having a panic attack, if you can have them hug you , hold your hand and tell you it's ok.

2.remember you are fine. This will pass

Breath in through to nose slowly and out of your mouth slowly.

3. Pray and tell God to take it, tell him to give all your anxiety and the attacks to him and trust him to take them.

4. Try to keep your mind busy draw, write , watch a movie etc.

5. Ground yourself count something, name stuff, colors etc. Splash cold water on your face or ice

Drink something hot or cold.

And remember you ARE NOT ALONE like I said I am fighting one right now as I speak to you. If you ever need to talk message me i am here

Prayers prayers prayers IN THE NAME OF JESUS HEAL I PRAY FOR A HEALING OF YOUR BODY THAT THE ATTACKS WILL GO AWAY

Please pray for me.. I feel so defeated. Smh.

Are you taking any anxiety meds?

Are you on any anxiety meds?

This forum has been wonderful for me. Its been comforting knowing I'm not the only one.

Death can certainly be a trigger. That's what caused my first episode of attacks. I was able to get it under control with meds. After 6-9 months I was able to get off the meds and still maintain conrol. Are you on a treatment plan? Meds, natural, therapy? I've chosen medication and therapy. I start group therapy again. It was really helpful the first time I went.

This is just one of many chapters in our lives. We'll get this under control.

To all who are struggling at moment keep reading all this advice we've all felt this hell. Reasuerance is a god send, and not feeling your alone or mad. I totally agree with all above advice .some great caring people on here. I battled meds and alcohol over yrs to try and relax( not good) nothing works apart from pushing yourself daily. On a bad day talk or get on here ( get out of your own head even for a short time because that short time tells you you are capable) talking to people who know how this feels saved me they say ( this too shall pass) and it does every time but it is horrid at it's worst. Also HOPE that's a great word. Talk anytime , love it your trying to help yourself and get advice . Talk anytime. Love the people taking time to reply even though we still have bad patches😊❤️

Please read what I replied to Gregory underneath it was meant for you . ❤️

Hi  Amelia, same here I miss the old me! This is my 6th episode in the last 23 years and my current bout has been the worse, really hoping to see the old me coming back soon.

Amelia you are not alone! I too have panic attacks for no apparent reason. I suffer with generalised anxiety disorder and its a living hell! Even on good days where I dont feel anxious I can suddenly have a panic attack. Make an appointment with your doctor and seek some form of CBT therapy or possibly medication. I find reading posts on here helps as it makes you realise that there are a lot of people with the same symptoms as you x

I too feel like I have an illness and will die. Its so debilitating and anxiety is out of control! My anxiety is at its worst when I hear about people dying especially if I know them or if they are younger than me. I am due to start CBT next week and I pray it works as I miss being me and want to lead a normal life again x
