A couple of weeks ago I experienced a tingling on the side of my face. I thought maybe, I will now have a breakout on the side of my face? And also thought how could that be? I've been married for two years now, and had only one partner (which is my husband). We're both faithful people. I developed, what I though could be an outbreak on the bottom line of my lip, which I've been dealing with this whole week. I even went to the clinic last Wednesday to get a culture swab, which came back negative, but am still not sure it's 100% as there was no fluid coming out of the bump. I even went so far as to going to the emergency room for a second opinion, in which the doctor took a look at it, and said it was just a type of folliculitus. Before having these experiences, I cleaned my bathroom toilet a couple of weeks ago, and thought in my head is it possible that I could develop facial herpes from the surfaces in my bathroom? Could it spread to my eyes? Please help me. I'm so so so so fearful of not only losing my sight, but also more lesions developing on my face.
Genital herpes is genital. You also don't get genital herpes from bathroom and other surfaces, so you certainly wouldn't get it on your face! You could get someone else's oral herpes (HSV1) on your lips, but yours tested negative and the ER brushed it off as not. Speaking of which, you really shouldn't waste ER resources for something so minor as a suspected oral cold sore!
As told by a doctor, a culture isn't always the best test. And as for me using Emergency resources, I paid out of pocket for services rendered., so it's my right. Also, I've done research. HSV outbreak can pop up anywhere despite the strain you have. And, the virus itself can survive on surfaces for hours, days, and weeks at a time.
well, well... you seem to have all the answers, I don't know why you are wasting time asking questions. I guess that's your right too... Apparently, you are a better doctor than the two you saw, so you must be right.
