can you test negative for herpes after 4 months and still have it ?
what kind of test?
what kind of test?
an igg blood test
most will have a positive igg by that time. the whole process with having dectable antibodies can vary from person to person but this process can be definitive by 6 months.
6 months? no 16 weeks (4 months) is when anybody will start producing antibodies that are detectable and its pretty rare for anyone to start producing that late.
no, after 16 weeks if youve tested negative you dont have it
but what if i show symptoms on my lips ? that looks like herpes ?

well it depends on what’s on your lips. it could be a pimple or a rash. different skin conditions (besides herpes) can cause blemishes. maybe you should include a picture, others on the same can give our opinion

have you been taking antivirals? and igg blood tests miss 30% of hsv1.
western blot for hsv1 is really the only accurate test for hsv1 or having a pcr swab test done
the amount of misinformation on here is rather scary.
3 months usually is the mark for igg tests and a body to produce antibodies detectable.
like someone else said your body can take longer in some instances.
now, taking antivirals can skew your results so if you have been taking them it can cause a false negative due to the medicine working and your body not producing a detectable amount of antibodies.
if you have an active bump or whathhaveyou that you’re worried about you can always ask your doctor for a swab test which is pretty dang accurate.
like I said, igg tests miss 30% of hsv1.
