Hi everyone, I was diagnosed about 4 months ago with genital herpes. I'm 19 and my bf is 32. I caught it from a cold sore he had on his lip which I never noticed because he has a beard. Obviously I was absolutely devastated, I'm 19! I got so depressed for ages as I had a really bad first breakout. I went to numerous doctors with excruciating pain when urinating, he couldn't tell me I went to a gum clinic they tested me but couldn't tell me for certain- I had to wait for results. I then on the 4th night of this pain got rushed to hospital the pain was unbearable. Finally my rests came back and I was positive. I still don't know what type though? I just know I have genital herpes. Ever since diagnosed I have had reaccurances every other week, even though there not as painful, they are very uncomfortable. My legs are a prime example, this aacurance they just tingle all the time, like a really sensitive pain that's hard to describe. I also get very emotional when having an accurance, like will cry for no reason, have a lot of self pity, and basically just feel worthless.

So that's my story, I have a question though, so my bf obvs has cold sores on the mouth, can I catch it by kissing him on the mouth even though I have the virus? I haven't had a cold sore ever? Can anyone help me😔

Oh im so sorry sweetie... That's called neuropathy. I had it really bad too and had to go to the ER. Ask the doctor for nerve pain meds like neurontin or lyrica. I was finally able to go about my life again.

Until you get your HSV typed, you can't be sure it's fom oral sex. 80% of people w genital herpes is asymptomatic and are unaware of their diagnosis, because it'd not included in the full STD panel.

Take a daily probiotic... That changed me from having daily symptoms to almost nothing. It'll take time to build up, but it works.

You need to ask for daily suppressive meds.

There's a good chance you already have oral herpes and are asymptomatic. I'm willing to bet your bf has HSV 2 and is asymptomatic. Have him go get a blood test done.

Soak in Epsom skat baths when you have symptoms.

So I would I need a blood test as well to see what type I have?

Well how did they type you the first time? Visually or did they swab you by Chance? If she swabbed you, you should be able to call and get the results. If not, yes you'll need to request for an IgG test to have it typed.
