I started to have this condition five years ago at the age of 53. I had a very slightly raised PSA and underwent biopsy which was negative and chronic non-bacterial prostatitis was diagnosed. The condition comes and goes over periods lasting up to ten months and can be very uncomfortable. I suffer mainly from aching/discomfort between my testicles and my anus, frequent urges to urinate and an occasional 'dribbling' feeling in my penis. My GP gives me Indoramin and they do seem to help (although my urologist doubts that they have anything other than a placebo effect). My urologist gave me tips about how to avoid setting off a bout of discomfort, including - no alcohol at a greater concentration than 20%; don't sit on hard/cold surfaces; dont sit for too long; cut down on caffine and drink 2 litres of liquid each day. The condition seems very common and I have two friends (both a couple of years younger than me) who suffer from it and have done so for years. We have all been subjected to huge doses of anti-biotics which made no difference at all!

I too had slightly raised PSA and went through the biopsy with no sign of cancer. This was around a year ago. I too had the pain between my scrotum and anus. However I have started having pains again but this time in my testicles lower back and lower abdomen. Been for another blood test and due to have ultrasound on Wednesday this week? Not sure if this is PrOstatitis this time. The pain moves around a lot from the areas I mentioned earlier. Anybody have any opinions?
Peter i went through similar problems as you 3 yrs ago and was given ciprofloxacin. Today i still have those problems and 20 extra due to a bad reaction from the drug. I am now semi~disabled in a terrible state. I was very unlucky.

Hello Peter I am very happy to see someone else here with similar to me i see your message that you have posted before 2 Years can i know if there is anything thats working for you ? I have Tried all kinds of antibiotics and nothing is working and now the my situation is very bad can not sit and can not stand my body is filled with pain .and it looks like not only me john also facing problems with drugs and if these drugs are of no use why do doctors prescribe and waste our valuable money and Health Now i have stopped taking antibiotics and stopped visiting urologits anymore i have no faith in them .
Keith i am still suffering badly due to cipro, but my pelvic problems have improved. The gp and urologist did not offer me one word of advice or information but said it was due to my prostate. I got a book called pain in the pelvis which answered many of my questions, it certainly eased my mind some. A big help.
