I had my total hip replacement 25 days ago (cementless, ceramic) . My doctor told me not to bear weight around 3 weeks. It seemed to be ok until the end of 2nd week though, pain came back in my left pubic area (probably muscles since there is no more dead bone there) I have 2 cm leg length discrepancy (longer on the operated side) and my knee hurts too. I assume (hope) the pain in my joint area is only because of the surgery (muscles around the joint are hard as a rock according to other side). My doctor told me that it will be ok and I need some patience. Some people get rid of all the pain immediately after surgery or in 2-3 weeks, and this makes me uncomfortable considering myself not doing much better yet. I appreciate your comments and share your experiences if you have similar to mine.
I was walking pain free after three and half weeks but then thought all was ok and overdid it which brought the pain back plus other aches. I did as the physio suggested and took things easier and slower. Now pain free after 14 weeks
Don't push it, relax and rest if it hurts.
Hope that helps
Don't worry about length. It will "go home" as it resolves. Mine took about 10 months and was more than an inch....
my muscle also rigid for ever but after a year I take Epsom salt baths so im buoyant and turn over curving the front convex which I Learned n Pilates when you grab ankles and then rock. There are loads of exercises and I couldn't start for 12 weeks as as still in agony and leg too long. However to reassure you I am very flexi supple now despite losing my butt. Take a look at the "clam" n YouTube recommended by physics. As to the groin, that's a hard one as I'm sure the tendon/ligament structure is disrupted. The hardest thing is to raise the operated leg. But exercise for opening groin can b to lie down on floor, butt against the wall, legs vertical against wall and gradually open out straight legs. Stay there. Do an hour even, daily, breathe into it and it will stretch. But it takes months. Just do what you can and rest is just as important. I did less than recommended, took longer, but I listened to my body even thru the painkillers. Shadow of former self but survived spending longer and longer in bed. Acceptance goes with the discipline of exercising. However bad things feel as not being right, our poor bodies can adjust to a lot. Crois-moi! It'll be ok
I am exactly 4 months after a full hip replacement 'bikini cementless style' original pain has gone, but my outer thigh is still very tender, and I still have pain down my leg to my knee... I thought I would be much better by now... wound healed very quickly . I did all my exercises, but found some very difficult.
if I fall asleep in a position with my knees tucked up, my operated side is complexity 'locked' and the unlocking process is very very painful.
Will this improve?
