I suffer with anxiety

Hi

I have suffered with Anxiety and Depression for many years. I am on anti-depressions and anti-anxiety medication. Over the years I have still got many bouts of depression and anxiety which I find very hard to deal with.  Usually happens at stressful times in my life. I have recently started Reiki and started counselling. Both of which help somewhat. At these times I have insomnia which is also very hard. Any situations of helpful ways to get through this??

I too suffered from debilitating insomnia.  It's been an issue for me for many years, even before this lovely perimenopause kicked in with all it's horrible symptoms.

I found that taking a water-soluble magnesium citrate powder (which you can purchase online--just google) about an hour or so before I wanted to be sleeping has helped me tremendously.  No more sleepless nights, tossing and turning.  It's amazing.  I wouldn't be without it now.

Hi Tracy

I to suffer from anxieties and depression and I am on ativan and trazodone for my anxieties and depression.

The only thing I can suggest is that you learn some strategies and coping skills to help with your anxieties like relaxation, meditation, writing about what is making you anxious, exercise is suppose to help with anxieties and depression, and just get a lot of therapy to help you with your issues because I am in therapy.

Also do something that gets your mind off yourself, like work or helping otheres.

I know with me if I sit around all day doing nothing I start feeling the anxieties roll in.

I need to keep busy to get through my anxieties also music helps me and so does singing.

I know its hard to deal with but we just have to make the best that we can wth it. Smile and tell yourself its going to be okay I'm going to get through this

Reiki is great - as is reflexology which I have found really helpful for anxiety in the past. A book called "Thoughts and Feelings (4th edition) Taking Control of Your Mood and Feelings" was recently recommended to me and I find it excellent. It is easy to understand and the suggestions are practical and down to earth. It is the Cognitive Behaviour Therapy guide that is used by many psychologists.

I have suffered like you for many years and I know how awful it can be and how desperately you want these feelings to end. Best of luck.
