I suffered with postnatal depression after the birth of my second child and was given Dosulepin after been given Flouexetine (sp?) which did not agree with me at all and to be honest made me feel allot worse although Im sure it can help some people it just didnt for me! I found that Dosulepin helped me almost straight away as I slept the 1st night of taking them although my mood didnt lift for about 8 weeks but did feel able to cope more with getting through the day, I have been on them for 1 1/2 years, I did try to come off them too soon and found that I was feeling panicky again so doc advised me to go back up to higher dosage , am now on 75mg originally being on 125mg and on my next appt will be going down to 50mg, am taking my time and just going with the flow rather than beeting myself up all the time about coming off. So all in all am so pleased that these worked and its true when they say 'You will feel better!!!':magic:

Dont worry about not hearing them I was on 125mg at the begining and I definately heard the 1st little squeek that my baby made, I started off slowly mind you 3 days on 25mg then 3 days 50mg and so on untill eventually on 125mg your doc will advise the best way that suits you, I did feel really tired for the first few weeks during the day which I found a little bit difficult as I had another child to take to school etc but if you do drive try to walk for a little while as Im sure your doc has already advised you but you will soon see that things become much better physically and more importantly mentally! Good luck and hope everything works out.

I think what you say about not beating yourself up regarding the condition is really important and i agree strongly. If you were suffering a physical problem you would be ill just the same. Good luck Peter
