Hey there I am a 25 year old female and for about 5 years now I have been getting what I thought were pimples around my bum and inner thighs. I have gone to my family doctor and she has dismissed it and just told me to take Epsom salt baths but there must be more to it. This last week I was feeling itchy down there and over night I have about 6 red bumps on my buttocks. They don't pop and are firm and painful. I plan on going to the local std clinic next week.

I'd say if your doctor was concerned about a std that she would have tested you? She didn't do anything but look at them? I've never thought for herpes to pop up on the butt cheeks either. Have you done any kind of research like maybe compare yours to other pictures?
Humm without pictures no clue but it sounds at least from what I can tell is might be infected hair follicles from shaving. Are these areas you shave and do you disinfect your razor each time? If it were herpes 2 it would most likely make itself know inside the vagina, and along the labia.
Have you let anyone with cold sores perform oral if so, it's worth doing a full STD test.
