Hi, so I caught a cold sore Saturday of last week. It was a sore by Monday, I put vanilla and deodorant on it to make ut dry fast, and it worked. It finished scabbing by Tuesday and now there's only red skin where it used to be. There's no feeling to it.
So last night I got drunk and made out/had sex with someone I like. I was drunk and it was the last thing on my mind because my cold sore wasn't there. What are the chances I gave them HSV-1? We also gad oral sex. What are the chances I gave my self genital HSV-1 through their saliva?
Any responses would be emense help, I feel absolutely awful!
If you have a history of cold sores, you should be protected from HSV-1 elsewhere. Same goes for your partner. If he does not carry the virus already, however, then I don't know. There's a chance you were still shedding so soon after healing. Normally it's good to add a couple of days as buffer.
I have a history. I don't know about them. What are the percentage odds I messed them up? I feel guilty and depressed.
The place where my cold sore was just looks like a red bruise but doesn't feel like anything, not even when I rub vanilla on it.
At least you didn't kiss with an actual cold sore or scab, only healed skin, so that is good. Nobody can know for sure about viral shedding, however, hence having a bit of a buffer immediately after healing is not a bad extra measure to take. Try not to worry too much, though. A lot of people carry oral HSV-1 without symptoms, so there's a good chance that your partner does, too.
That's how I got hsv-2. From a guy who went down on me. I much rather have hsv-1 :-(
I hope that they dont get this evil disease.
It's most unlikely that you caught Type 2 from receiving oral sex. Type 2 rarely causes oral infections and is usually acquired through sexual intercourse, whether vaginal or anal.
