I had a double prolapse op done 8 weeks ago and I have discovered a lump in the posterior of my vagina which comes when I need a poo or release wind. I have been pushing it back again and it goes back but it is not the first time it happens. Has anyone got any ideas, do I need another op? Is this back to the beginning again? Post op consutant appt in 3 weeks time, do I go to the doc?
Jane, is there any way you can phone your surgeon or their secretary to ask about it? They might be able to relieve your anxiety if you can. Hope it is OK though.
When you say a double prolapse were they bowel, bladder uterus?
Bowel and bladder. The bladder prolapse is fine but the lump is in the posterior of the vagina. I do hope you can help as your advice in the past has been great. I have also got my backache again.
I'll see if I can tomorrow. I'm a bit worried!
First of all Jane are you having your BO OK? Is your stool soft? Sometimes you get a bit of constipated stool that gets into a certain position and feels like a sack. Let me know the answer to these questions then I'll get straight back to you.
No, the stool is soft. I have been taking 2 movicol sachets every day. When i need to go I am very careful not to strain so I don't know why. I feel a tightness there afterwards.
As it's 8 weeks since your operation and this is something that you have only just noticed I agree with Chris and ring your consultants secretary. If she can't bring your appointment forward see your GP because he will be able to contact the consultant directly. I would be very very surprised if the surgery had failed but you are understandably extremely anxious. Personally I think the healing process hasn't finished yet and it could be the reason why you can feel something that resembles a sac.
Thanks Matron, I will ring in the morning and let you know what happens.
I hope all is well and they can reassure you Jane. Let us know how you get on, won't you.
Please do and I'm sorry I can't reassure you more but remember it's rare for prolapse surgery to fail.
Thanks Chris, I have just had a look and it looks like a birds beak down there! Sorry to be so graphic.
Jane do you mean the lump isn't round?
I've just had a look and it looks like a birds beak if this helps you understand. Sorry to be so graphic
It's not round, a bit pointy, that's the posterior bit and the front is round with the gap in the middle, space in the vagina centre
Oh I can understand you being really worried Jane. I'm wondering if something has opened up but truly I really don't have a clue! Obviously it's impossible for me to really know what is happening but I think if it were me and anything got worse overnight or in the night, what you could do is phone 111 and ask for their advice. I am prone to panic though, so it may be that it's not that worrying and is just something healing - I just don't know! But if you are really worried, that might be useful?
jane I just think this is the healing process but as I can't see it I just couldn't be 100% sure.
I've heard people on here talk about granulated scar tissue Matron - do you think it could be that?
That's what I was thinking about when I said the healing process. It isn't always so visible but I have seen it several times before. I didn't want to comment too much because I can't see it but I was trying to picture it in my mind.
Thanks Chris and matron- I will let you know what happens tomorrow. I have never heard of granulated scar tissue.
