I've always been a big girl being hovering around 11 stone for most of my twenties and very comfortable in my skin.. (Was once 10 stone 4 for about a day!)that was when I was free and single and bindge drinking. It wasnt till I went on the pill for my first serious relationship (aged 27)that I exsperienced the usually pill weight gain but along with servere mood swings, depression, and lack of sex drive. So I decided to come off the pill only to experiance irregular periods for about a year, which was very unlike me. After the usual pregnacy test 'just in case' I decided to go to my GP who orded some blood test and discover yes I had polycystic ovaries and was told 'take this pill to regulate your periods and lose some weight'(sept 02) no explanation and a prescription for dianette. Yes I had a bleed but am still none the wiser for when my periods are coming as systoms start 2 and a half weeks befor my bleed.
Everyone I know has had a scan or seen a gyny speicalist. I read an USA web page that says an added sign of PCOS are skintags - I am covered in them and were at there worst when I was diagnosed. But my main problem is weightgain. I am a qualified gym instructor and know what to do but. But when you are excersing and eating healthy it is so upsetting when you pile on 10lb for no reason at all. Although I can exsperiance half a stone weight loss and 10lb weightgain in the same month. I had a pill check 3 months ago and was 15 stone 4. today - 16 and a half stone which is still so dangerous. My cousin also has PCOS, only she's 22, was told at the age of 18 to have a baby while she can. She now has a little girl and has lost 2 stone since her gp put her on a slimming pill as according to her GP all PCOS sufferers should be on a slimming pill. So thats what I'm going for next during fridays appointment. wish me luck!:yikes:
