I've always slept like a baby, is it anxiety or something else?

Hello,

Ive been having numerous symptoms everyday now since middle of April:

Chest sensations, heart palpitations, arm sensations, tender muscles in chest, dizziness, light headedness, fatigue, shortness of breath, limb weakness, pins and needles, blurred vision.

I generally struggle to get to sleep, when im lying in bed with just me and my thoughts, the palpitations seem to come on strong and i sometimes have to get up and watch tv until i physically cannot stay awake anymore.

Once im asleep, i sleep great, ive not had one restless sleep to date, i always wake up feeling great too then gradually as the day goes on, towards lunchtime/midday is generally when i start to feel the above symptoms again. So, is there any chance this could be something else other than anxiety? When im calm enough to reflect, it makes me think that maybe it is just anxiety, surelt if it was something else id also be having these symptoms at night, or maybe i just cannot feel them?

Ive had one ecg test when i was experiencing zero symptoms (of course), that came back absolutely fine. A standard across the board blood test also came back fine.

Ive had a vitamins and minerals blood test which came back with a vit d deficiency and folic acid deficiency, ive been taking tablets for these for 2 days now and have been put on a 3 month course for them.

Interestingly enough, the doctor did not diagnose me with anxiety but instead said i was recovering from an unknown viral infection.

What are your thoughts on this discussion?

Thanks!!

Hi Sam, take it from an anxiety and depression veteran which I've had since my mid 20's (I'm now 51) I've had 6 relapses with good years in between, the symptoms you experience appear to me to be classic anxiety symptoms especially as the tests you've had have all come back good.

I suggest you get professional help starting by a visit to your GP who can refer you for CBT therapy and meds if appropriate.

What were your Vitamin D numbers? Low vitamin D can cause your symptoms.

Hi Sam I had similar symptoms like you with heart heart palpitations my cardiologists and family doctor suggested I take beta blockers propranolol which is a life saver and has tremendously help me with the palpitations

Thanks aspinan, im going to stay on these vitamin supplements for a month maybe and if im still the same im going back.

Anxiety has crossed my mind but i went to the gp with the mindset that i wont mention it so not to put words in their mouth and let them disagnose me. As time goes on though im becoming more and more tempted though. I just dont want to be wrong and it be more serious - which is classic anxiety i know! :D

Unfortunatrly i dont know. I did not think to ask as it wouldmt mean much to me anyway. My results were given over the phone and i was just told to collect a prescription. They mentioned that the folic acid may explain my shortness of breath but nothing about the vit d. I didnt know vit d could cause these symptoms?

How low does the vit d levels have to be?

Thanks ivan,

I have heard of them on here actually but nowhere else and i havent looked into them. Can they be prescribed with anxiety?
