The area around my vagina more towards my thighs has been bumpy and itching for about a month you can see its a lighter complexion in the photos. Oddly, it itches less after i trim the hairs down with an electric razor. Now the inside closer to the vagina is this bright pink colour. Ive been tested for the common STD/I and everything comes back normal. I haven’t had sex recently to know if its painful. Is this herpes???
I do have reoccurring yeast infections and my gyno tells me to take probiotic pills, which dont help. I take regular showers with sensitive wash, no tight clothes, dont douche, and rarely have sex. any advice on this too?
Hi Diane, there are numerous skin disorders that can affect the vulva that are unrelated to stds and infections : neurodermatitis, psoriasis, urticaria. They are hard to identify and extremely frustrating. A specialized vuvlar dermatologist is usually the best expert to provide an acurate diagnosis.
There are still many things you can try before reaching out to a specialist. If you’re negative for yeast, you can try OTC antihistaminic for a month and maybe hydrocortisone. Ask your pharmacist for advice for appropriate dosage and ointment for genitals. If it doesn’t resolve, you can discuss further treatment options with your doctor like tricyclic antidepressant or having a dermatoscopy performed. It seems your skin’s lighter under your pubic hair. You should inquire about that.
Keep taking probiotics and following your good habits. I’m confident it will resolves.
