I've been struggling with concurrent disorders and it's ruining my life

I struggle with anxiety on a daily basis, it's so out of hand. I don't want to socialize in fear of being judged, so I isolate in my room until I get cabin fever. Then when I go outside to get essentials I can't wait to go back home. This leads me to major depression so I drink and do drugs to escape reality and to socialize with people. I always go overboard and spend all my money which leads me back to a vicious circle of self loathing and suicidal ideation. I'm so sick of feeling this way and I've tried it all with 10 different antidepressants, therapy, rehab, suicide attempts ,but nothing has been successful I'm losing hope and this is not a life for anybody to live....

Hi Andre

Have you ever heard of narcotics annonymous?

Andre

If we have a fear of mixing with people around us and restrict our movements and not talk to those around us that can affect our Anxiety and we imagine people will think badly about us.

You seem to have gone through quite a lot of treatment pathways and this will just reinforce the negativity we feel, so it is important you try and interact with those people around you. You are not strange or unusual.

Taking street drugs will not help you, they will make you feel worse and make you more insular, so you need help in the first instance with your drug addiction, your GP can help with this and arrange some help for you.

If you are isolated your Anxiety will be worse beause of that so you need some help there as well. There are Day Centres that may help you launch yourself back into Society, you will meet many there who are suffering something similar and that will encourage you to try and move on.

If you are Suicidal, contact your own GP as a matter of urgency and make a list of your worries and fears, explain what you have been taking.

If you feel suicidal and your Needs are immediate phone NHS Information Line on Tel 111 and explain your fears and concerns, they will give you help if needed

H again Andre

My computer crashed before I completed my reply to you.

I myslf have never had to avail myself of their services but I enquired if you had heard of Narcotics Annonymous because I understand that they can help you to stop taking these drugs .

You can self refer.

They have meetings etc at various venues all over the country usually at Church Halls etc. These can be accessed online then you just turn up apparently.

I am told that they have a 12 step programme similar to Alcoholics Annonymous which is quite successful.

.

I am unsure what this entails exactly but the idea is to discuss the reasons as to why you take drugs and why you feel that you need them etc. and to devise a programme to support you to come off these drugs and to improve your quality of life and to realise that yes there is a life without drugs, lifeafter drugs!!

I know from my previous occupation and training that NA has helped a lot of people to stop taking drugs by offering intensive support from people in the same position as yourself but who want to stop taking these toxic substances.

I understand that you can eitherring up NA or look for a local meeting place online then just turn up.

I expect that you already know if you feel suicidal that there is the Samaritans on 1161234 freephone. They will always listen and are nonjudgmental. Also there  are  Crisis Lines at most hospitals but they tend to sign post you unless you  are actually on the point  of suicide. If that is the case then they  will either send an ambulance crew out to assess you or direct you to A and E depending on where you live and what is available.

Youhave taken the first step in writing to us .

Good luck.
