Swimming is really good for increasing your appetite. I think fish oil is an appetite stimulant. When you are eating a meal eat the vegetables first then the protein then the carbs. Carbs are the most filling and if you eat them first you won’t feel like the rest. Also remember to chew, it helps for digestion. I used to have really small portions of food, because if you have a big plate of food in front of you and you have no appetite, you get the fear and dread. Set yourself realistic tasks and don’t feel down if you can’t always do it. At least you realise you have a problem and you are trying to do something about it. A good idea would be seeing a dietitian, then you can get the right nutritional advice. Having an aperitif before you eat can help stimulate your appetite, but maybe not with your medication at the moment. Is there a possibility you could be allergic or intolerant to a food group?
Thanks for the great words of encouragement, i try to picture that and motivate myself whenever possible,
my cbt sessions will be weekly so i hope they help, i think i just need to fix my stress and anxiety issues and the fact that i struggle to eat and overthink, if i can fix these then the future will be brighter
I have noticed that as the day progresses, i can eat more so maybe my stomach has to get settled a little in the morning,
this is my last year so i’m hoping that gives me extra encouragement in continuing to keep myself motivated
Hi younus786
You are more than welcome younus.
I went to uni and though it can be fun you have to be serious about your course work and exam revision. I found it a bit stressful on occasions but i knew the help was there on campus if needed it and i took full advantage of that along with many other students. You will make it because you want to!
.. and that will get you through. You will need your nutrition to help you through it. I’m very pleased to hear you are starting to eat..take it slow and your tum will start to like it and want more ![]()

Glucerna, Boost, Ensure, just to mention a few supplemental shakes to look into trying. I know first hand that sometimes when I’m feeling nauseous and can’t eat I can drink something. Just don’t let me have to smell it, cook it or think about it beforehand. With the Glucerna I just keep them chilled so I can grab-n-go.
Good luck.
Vish, you sound like a medical professional who listens to you but don’t hear you. (No offense) you don’t sound like a person who is or has dealt with something of this nature before, chill.
Younus786, I understand. There are people who don’t however understand that feeling of being deprived of energy/fatigue to the point where you can not exercise. But everyone wants to scream at you that all you need to do is exercise. They just don’t get it!! It will be all right, one day. Just do what you can, when you can. You will have good days& bad days;on your good days I would suggest you trying some light exercise. Hang in there.
