I've been to the WE twice in two days.

Hello. This is my first post so sorry if it isn't in the right area. So to start with I'm a 16 year old female. I'm not the most active, more so considering it's summer vacation. This Sunday at around 1 in the morning I was trying to get to sleep, when I started having a feeling of a lump in my throat which was making it hard for me to breathe. I told my dad about it and he told me to take it easy. I remained awake for another 30 minutes looking online for reasons for it until I finally told my dad I needed to go to the ER because I had never experienced something like this. I began hyperventilating, and my heartrate was racing the whole trip to the hospital. The doctors took an EKG (I think that's what it was), some blood, a urine test, and X-rays of my chest. They told me everything was normal (except for an elevated heartrate), which shocked me. I thought I was dying! They told me it was most likely anxiety, then discharged me. I still had the lump in my throat, but tried to brush it off. Everything was fine until around 6 in the evening. My family and I went for a drive. My heartrate randomly began to race and I began feeling really hot and naseous. I told them I needed to go the hospital again, where the doctors took a urine test again and an X-ray, this time for my throat. They told me once again everything was normal. Then they gave me a pill type of sedative to see if it relieves my symptoms, to which it did a little bit, but the lump still remained. After monitoring me for 3 hours they discharged me again, this time giving me Prevacid as they believed it could help my throat. I felt fine most of today (Monday) until around 4 PM, when I started feeling nausea and the lump in my throat was a bit worse, but it wasn't affecting my breathing anymore. I started developing fatigue and awful headaches too. Now it's 10 PM and I honestly don't know what to do anymore. My parents are worried and i am too because I can't believe it's anxiety causing this. Has anybody had anything similar? Please help because I really am terrified for myself. Thank you.

Sorry for my title. I meant ER.

It does sound very much like classic anxiety symtoms. More close to panic attacks. Gerd and reflux hapoen as well. Best to go on a bland doet with plain foods for a week and drink a lot of water. Thats for the reflux aspect to allow your belly to regroup. For the anxiety attcks therapy is helpful. They are very familiar with all this amd have mant techniques and akills they can teach you as well as talk stuff out. They sell anxiety and phobia workbook to really organize and guide you,

you have had the exam oart so best to really believe it so you can focus on the anxiety. It isnt nirmal anxiety. Its a mal function so its anxoety is iver drive and uncomfortable and has such weird symptoms that come and go. Some bpvery useful helpful tip is stop any amd all caffiene, msg and alcohol is used. They trigger it easily, you can google msh as it has many hidden names.

This wont kill you. Its the bodys fight or flight. It can scare th daylights out of you as it mimics all weird stuff. It is very hard to belief anxiety can do this but it can and more. Its meant to save your life and your organs. Its just theres no danger so it goes awry. It will take a long time to adjust to it but truely therapy is very important otherwise you will end up with health anxiety and searching for answers from your body. The problem there is science has nontrue answers or bloodtest or scan to confirm it. No scan for fight or flight.

The beginning if all this throws most people into denial and disbelief. But it is real and true.  Check your messages. It is the upper right corner says messages and ill send you a link to explain this all better and clearly.

Thank you so much lisa. This has given me some relief. I just looked up foods with msg and am shocked at how many of them i have been eating! I'll definitely cut back on them. I'll look into therapy too because this truly was a scary experience. I'll also check that link you mentioned too. Thank you once again. :-)

Hi darl, I often get that feeling of a lump in my throat and yes it is brought on by anxiety. Also all the other symptoms is anxiety to. Try and do deep breathing excises it does help. Hope this helps xx

Hi,

I am also A 16 year old femal and to me this sounds like general anxiety and I know it's not nice. I have the lump in your throat feeling to and it doesn't seem to pass whether I drink or eat it is persistent. Also I feel the nausous an de get headaches along with other symptoms like dizzy, headaches, hyperventilating and panic attacks. My best advise to you is to first try identify the trigger mine for example it emetophobia (fear of vomiting) which has since helped me in suffering from anxiety everyday for 3 years. After you identify the trigger it may be helpful for you to arrange a doctors appointment and talk about referring you to a physiologist to help you cope.

Hope the advise helps and the reassurance that you are not alone and many people are out there like you and can help you.

Hello. I am a hypochondriac and always search up why things are happening to me, probably why I began scaring myself into believing I have an awful disease. And I understand your struggle as a fellow emetochondriac it truly is a terrible fear and affects me too. Thank you so much for the advice and to know I'm not alone in this. :-)
