As a bit of info, I am a 12 year old female. I am anemic, though i've had blood taken and the doc said everything was just fine. I'm pretty underweight- weighing only 65.2 lb. I admit that my diet and sleep cycle is not the best, but I have no appetite. My sleep is disrupted from constant runs to the bathroom because I feel as if I will throw up. Nothing has ever actually happened in the bathroom, despite me getting 'the taste' that you get right before you get sick.
All of this happened about three months ago when I suddenly got that taste. Nothing triggered it, it just came out of no where. Since the incident, I have had constant nausea. The only relief I ever get is from peppermints. I did some research, and peppermints are proven to relieve nausea. I've gone through three containers of altoids- which could be tripled- maybe quadrupled- if I weren't so worried that i'd run out.
I am unsure what the cause of this sickness is, but i do know it isn't exactly normal. The flu or any cold should not last for three months. I have noticed that talking or too much movement makes the nausea worse- a long with riding in a car.
I have not had any other symptoms besides nausea. Last night, it got very bad, and today i've begun to get the runs.
I am never up to going out anywhere because of how sick I feel. This nausea is starting to take over my life- if anyone knows what's wrong or knows any remedies that could help, let me know. Thank you.
Have you tried a food diary to see if you are intolerant a particular food? Otherwise, I would see your doctor again for further tests.
Hi, first of all Altoids have ingredients when taken too much of it will cause diarrhea, so you need to stop those right away and give your body a rest... you can introduce them again but not that many during a day. Maybe get Aloe Vera capsules or ginger instead. Ginger helps very well with nausea. Plus I would drink some black tea and eat rice, white bread to calm your stomach.. maybe today and tomorrow. After that you need to get your diet on track - you are probably in desperate need of Iron - since you said that you are anemic and a young lady! And you are growing right now and whatever you are not giving your body right now you will suffer later. For example your bones when not getting enough calcium in the years that you are growing can result in a higher chance of getting osteoporosis.
And I will try to explain the whole cycle - since your body is very complex. If you are lacking one thing over a longer period of time, your body will get deficient and as a result sick. Your body needs healthy Carbohydrates every single day for energy and your brain (45-65% of your daily calorie intake), healthy fats (20-35% of daily intake), protein to repair muscle etc.(15-35% of your daily intake), all Vitamins, Minerals and lots of water.
These nutrients does your body need for every single cell in your body and to make sure that all organs and functions are working properly.
Iron deficiency is said to decrease the production of the hormone "ghrelin" which is responsible to tell you that you are feeling hungry. This has the effect that you won't eat and you won't give your body the right nutrients again... all a vicious cycle... See your body like a factory.. if there is one essential nutrient missing - it won't work right.
You as a growing young lady are in extra need of iron, calcium, vitamin D and vitamin A. Also make sure that you are getting Vitamin B12 (you will get that from animal food or fortified cereals etc.) and I am not sure how tall you are but you need to try to gain some weight otherwise your body won't be able to produce enough energy. If you like, let me know and I can tell you how many daily kilocalories you would need. I need your height, weight and age and I need to know if you are very active, low active or sedentary.
Maybe you can also talk to a dietitian. I think for now that would be the best idea!
And I don't mean that you need to take any iron supplements, but you can check for cereals that are fortified with iron. Cornflakes for example have lots of iron and other great Vitamins. And if you eat those with milk, you are on a good track : )
