You didn't mention which med they prescribed or the dose. However, it may take a couple of weeks to work. If you don't feel any better in 2 weeks you should make an appointment to discuss further. My reflux developed into Barretts Esophagus. I've had 13 specific treatments (newly developed in late 2012) and I am still concerned about Esopygeal Cancer. I don't mean to frighten you but it's nothing to mess around with. Even after all those treatments I take 20 mg of Omeprazole twice a day. I presumed the medical staff discussed diet with you. There are a number of things you shouldn't eat and you'll find if you never eat after 7:30 PM you'll have a lot less problems.
