I want to learn more about granuloma anularre

I have been diagnosed with GA and over the last year went from 2 dime sized circles of bumps on both my inner biceps to large areas of dark red pigmentation on my legs and elbows.has anyone had a similar experience and might it actually go away?? Am hoping!!!

Do you have sugar, candida, gluten or thyroid issues?

Not that I know of Sarah but i am thinking perhaps I should seek sensitivity testing

Is there anything else "off" like recurring infections or anything else notable?

i ask because I have diabetes and have candida. I've been told I'm muscle testing positive for thyroid issues, but I take that with a grain of salt.

Ive had spots go away completely after I've taken sugar and starch out of my diet.

Nothing else happening that I am aware of. I appreciate your feedback Sarah and think I will try to go gluten free to start. I have been a pastaholic for years and perhaps it caught up with me!

I thin it's possible that we bind and block our guts more than we realize or prevent certain foods and chemicals from being processed correctly and they end up causing a toxicity that's reflected in our skin.

I heard art that the issue with wheat is not necessarily the gluten, but the chemicals used to speed up the harvest. Round up weed killer. Again, I read things and think about it, but don't always buy into it.

Hopefully, through this forum, we will learn something helpful.

Hi brendaa, was diagnosed with granduloma over a year ago. At about the same time my became swollen. I ended up at an allergist and discovered I had been bit by a tick causing allergy to red meat and histamines. I was given a steroid cream. The first cream did not do anything for it. And it was awful. I spread all over my stomach, side breast, thighs and arms. I felt like it was taking over my body! I found this forum and someone mentioned eliminating gluten from the diet helped them. I eliminated gluten and limit foods high in histamines. I also went to a different dermatologist who gave me a large tub of steroid cream. I believe eliminating gluten was key to the rash fading. I barely have signs of it now. I do occasionally eat gluten and foods high in histamines. Most times if I eat too much the rash will begin to reappear. I cut out gluten completely and use some of the cream and it goes away. So I feel it is definitely connected to the foods we eat. My triggers are gluten, histamines and I'm not sure about the red meat and the rash as this all surfaced around the same time frame. I hope this helps you! It was trial and error but I do have it under control at this time.

Excellent idea!  I gave up the foods on the list that I was intolerant of and slowly my GA faded away.  It was not a quick fix but within a couple of weeks I could see that I was not getting any new spots and not too long after that the ones that I had started fading & getting smaller.  Mine was diagnosed by biopsy.  It took about a year for it to totally go away but I did not need any expensive creams, sunlamp treatments or other.  I had it about 3 years before doing this and in that 3 year period of time, it only got worse until it covered a large percentage of my hands, arms, legs & feet until I quit the foods on the list. I am now eating those foods in small amounts and not eating them daily and all seems fine but I totally gave them up until it was gone.

Do you use Allegra or any kind of allergy meds? I had GA for almost 10 years. I stopped taking Allegra and mine went away and have stayed gone for months now.

Hi Brenda , this seems to be the circle of GA, tiny spots , grow bigger in circles , symetrical, I have purple raised bits on both feet, I used lots of steroids there, I Don't recommend using steroids , thins skin etc

Had in legs but bit better, have tried U.V.B treatment that's not worked either, I moisturise with diprobase cream every night, but feet blotches just the same, warning! I sat in sun for hour and new batches of circles appeared the next day, like you don't understand it at all? Hope yours gone soon, I think it decides itself when it's going, as people on here have tried umpteen treatments , hoping on a miracle cure? All the best Helen

Thanks Helen! I have been trying to keep as covered as I can when in the sun but I love the sun so it's a drag. But it's not supposed to be good for us anyway all the best to you too. I am hoping it may go away within 2 years as apparently it does for most people but am aware it could be chronic. Take care.

Many thanks Sarah!

Hi Debra no I don't take antihistamines but thanks for asking! Brenda

Thanks kindly Sabrina. I was not aware that foods contained histamines so I will definitely look into that and I will also try a gluten free diet.

Patty, Are the foods listed here and I don't see them? Where can I find?

Good luck to you!!

Thanks Patty but I can't seem to find the private message!? I only have use of an iPhone at the moment.

If you look at the top of this page, I think you will see an envelope that says messages.  Try clicking that.
