I am wondering if there are any other women who have the virus who have any advice on an alternative to waxing as I think it has caused an outbreak? Thanks!
You can always take the antiviral meds as a prophylaxis before waxing. Same dosage/duration as for episodic therapy, starting the day of the waxing (or maybe a day extra before). Otherwise what about hair removal cream, shaving or just trimming?
Are you on supressive therapy? That's crazy that would cause an outbreak. The body is insane! LOL Maybe nair? I just shave, but I shave downwards. Not against the grain of the hair! Im not sure. It's scary because I'm just getting over my first outbreak . I'm scared Hon how many I'll get
I'm not no. I have had two outbreaks in the space of a month though, and I can only think that waxing or shaving may have caused it. They are no way near as bad as the first outbreak though so it's ok.
I am not on the antiviral meds but I might go see my doctor about it. I am worried that shaving may cause it too because I have done this aswell. ahhhh
If used as a prophylaxis, you won't be on the meds daily for ages, just for a couple of days or so. Always good to have a small supply on hand for episodic therapy anyway, so good to get some from your doc. Personally, I trim/shave, don't like chemical hair removal, and would avoid full waxing.
Fyi, physical "trauma" can trigger outbreaks, including the friction of sex for some people, which has to be the worst trigger of all!
ok I will have a word with my doctor thanks. yeah i prefer waxing and have been doing for 8 months, don't want to go back to shaving but might have to
