It hasnt been that bad lately, but its still there. I decided to go for a hike. I ran a lot of it, but after I started seeing these little white flecks that moved rather quickly. I went to an opthmologist before and they said it looks normal.
Could it be because of the adrenaline?? HELP Feel like it made it worse.
Hi Desiree, I think what your describing are "floaters" which I've seen mentioned before on this forum. They are caused by small bits of debris floating around the body of the eye but I would encourage you to keep going for a hike!
If you've been checked out and all ok then nothing to worry about.
Heres what I found on The Panic Room about them.
One of the more obscure symptoms of anxiety is the presence of eye floaters. Eye floaters are small, particle-like objects that seem to float around at the forefront of vision. These objects can vary in size, shape, clarity and brightness. Some people complain of bright, flashing dots that swirl and float across the eye when trying to focus on something. Eye floaters can appear as shapes in the form of threads, wiggly lines, noose-like objects, dots and blotches. They are particularly noticeable when focusing on a blank canvas background, such as a blue sky or bright wallpaper.
Eye floaters are small bits of debris that have broken off from the eye’s vitreous and have began ‘floating’ within the body of the eye. The different shapes that we see are actually shadows of this debris being cast onto the retina.
Many people have eye floaters, but they are particularly common in people suffering from anxiety or a panic disorder. In most instances, eye floaters are not dangerous and are mostly seen as a nuisance for the person who has to live with them. Unfortunately, these is limited treatment for eye floaters, but the prominence of them decreases as the person’s anxiety is treated. If your eye floaters are worrying you an excessive amount, then you should go to your doctor for a quick check up.
yes it could definitely be due to anxiety. I get dark floaters a lot and I've had them on and off for over 20 years. They are not harmful just annoying sometimes. You'll be fine as long as the doctor said your eyes are OK.
You did not make it worse. I have also found that when I exercise sometimes my symptoms flareup a little but I ignore it because I want the exercise. Also remember that any symptoms related to anxiety cannot hurt you.
it's a crazy thing that we have to deal with but don't let it overcome you with fear. We need to live our lives with as much peace of mind and happiness as we can!
Yes it kind of freaked me out, because I do have the dark eye floaters as well. But yesterday like I just saw little specks of white small dots and then they went away once I was more calmed.
I am just getting use to this anxiety. I had my first panic attack in late April, so I have so many questions. I try to live day by day without thinking about it, but as Im sure you know, the new symptoms tend to freak me out more than the ones ive already had. . . SMH
Guess we will live and learn. Thank you for your help, seriously. Its kind of nice to know someone out there suffers as I do, as horrible as it sounds, its good to be able to relate.
Ask questions any time. Or just if you want to vent. I have had this on and off for many years and have done a lot of studying on it and can pretty much control it now .
