I woke this morning to find a large bruise on my arm

I had already developed a small bruise on my hand, which I am monitoring.  I know it is caused by the MTX.  I am seeing my Prescriber [Dermatologist] next week to see what he has to say.

I had my bloods done last week and they were mostly normal, the LFT was 'satisfactory', which suggest that it is raised.

Today, is MTX day!  My instinct tells me to skip it this week and see what the Consultant says next week.

Does anyone have any thoughts?

It's great that this drug gives back mobility but it is 'strong'. I get rashes and 'teenage acne' and my instinct is always to stop taking the MTX for a week or two which, so far, seems enough to settle down my system. However the doctor tells me to go to her when this sort of thing happens...I don't think that you're supposed to take a break without supervision, so I'm glad you're going to see someone about your bruise. I'm not sure that anyone will be too concerned though...unfortunately this has been my experience with 'satisfactory' blood results, when I've asked my doctor about the rash, pimples or hair loss. There is usually an element of 'what did you expect?' unless the blood count highlights a problem. Good luck

Thank you ever hopeful.  How long have you been on MTX?

I don't know about regaining mobility, mine has been decreasing steadily over the past few months and now, I can hardly move.

My blood results were given to me by the doctors' receptionist and she hadn't a clue what she was looking at.  The GPs always tell me to go back to the Consultant, who is very good but obviously can't work 24/7.

I'm so sorry about your decreasing mobility. It sounds to me as if you could do with a change of drug. I would ring your consultant's practice nurse, ask her opinion and sort out a consultation. It is probably of no interest but I'm a great believer in exercise...the lying in bed, stretching sort (not frog marches!) If I didn't keep exercising then, drug or no drug, I'd seize up. I've been on MTX for something like 3 years. Good luck with everything smile

Incidentally, the encouraging 'smiley' face has come out as a laughing face on this site. Methotrexate is no laughing matter.

I like the smiley!!  And I am seeing the Consultant next Tuesday, so I'll have to be patient, won't I?!

Thank you Every hopeful
