IBS & Depression

Dears All,

I am suffering from IBS from last ten year. i check up with the doctor last month and he prescribed me to take Lexotanil 1.5mg and seroxat 12Cr and keep it continue for 6 months. Now its more than one month i am on these medicines. In the start i really feel very well but now i am feeling like restless all the time and not having good sleep from last week. Can any body suggest what should i do?

Regards

It sounds like the medication is disagreeing with.you.  Go back to your doctor and ask either to come off the medication slowly, or have your mecication changed.  You might benefit from CBT or other forms of counselling instead,  There are also natural medications available that may help your depression as well.

Thanks dear for your reply, i will go back to my Dr.

Regards,

Hope you get some help.

Hi Muhammad - I think depression is one of he worst side effects of IBS - Deinitely you have to get another prescription - this one is not working for sure.  Please keep me updated - I have found it difficult to get any antidepressent that 'works' without side efects.

HI Meg,

I visited my phsychetric and she advised me to leave Lexotanil and also she increase the dose of seroxat from 12.5 to 20... I take it for 2 days but my condition got worst,

so i left all medicine now and don,t know how to deal with it.

Please let me know if you have any good experience in future..

Regards

Maybe the medication isnt right for you.

You are probably better to stay off both medications and see if you feel better without them.

I left from yesterday but again i am not feeling well, having feeling of anxiety.

Yes i think the medication is not suitable for me... but when i start this medication first 2 weeks i feel quite well but now after 1 month i start feeling some side affects....

I think i need to change medicine.

I was prescribed Apo-Duloxetine, and at first it seemed to work well - for about a week - then I started to get side efects - nausea and vomiting, sweating, dizziness - and then chest pains... awful!  I went to our fsmily doctor and he told me to stay off anti-depressents -as my depression is "situational". (IBS)  Tomorrow I have an appointment with the hospital psychistrist, and I'll let you know what he says... may be of some help to

 you - hopefully.
