ibs/gallstones/gastritis symptoms

Hi everyone I am new to this (chat room). I am so encouraged by all your comments, they so mirror my experience with these symptoms. Untill 1999 I was fine ,my husband, son and myself holidayed in Feurterventura, Canary Islands. I had the holiday 'tummy' so took tablets but still didnt feel quite okay. Still enjoyed the holiday we were 'all inclusive 'so unlimited amounts of alcohol. After struggling to see the Millenium in we took a life changing decision to sell our family home and move up North where my Husbands roots are, we bought a NEWSAGENTS, which we ran succesfully for 5 years, during which my symptoms got really bad. My Mum and her brother , my uncle both had Colon cancer so I was a likely candidate. My then Doctor was brilliant orginised every test possible. Camera up and down ,I still dont know how they managed the one down I cant stand anything near the back of my throat I imediatley gag. Scans showed a large gall stone which was causing the upper abdominal pain and a few fybrods which were causing the lower abdominal cramps, so they say. 5 years on I'm still not convinced ,my main problem is the severe nausea I suffer every single day, yes I've tried every solution possible. It doesnt help that I have a complete phobia about being sick, always have always will. The last time I was actually sick was 10 years ago, I've just about recovered now !!!!! What I would appreciate from fellow sufferers is a remedy forn the Nausea , hoping for some fellow sufferers tips. xxxxc

Hi, I've been diagnosed with IBS for 4 years. I also particularly struggle with nausea, and I understand the feeling of being worried about being sick - particularly when at work or out somewhere.

I take Mebeverine and have done 3 times a day for the last 2 years. It has made a complete difference to my life, and when I forget to take it I really struggle to get through the day. It has by no means completely cleared up my symptoms, but it has made a drastic difference.

There are some days when my nausea is bad, and on those days I used to take Stemetil. However, my doctor told me that these are not prescribed any more as they can cause Parkinsonism! So I now need to find some other anti nausea tablets that work. I'd ask your doctor to try some with you - I know there are quite a few different types.

Good luck! x

Only found this site as I've just been diagnosed with IBS (although I don't believe them as I have other symptoms that aren't consistent with IBS) - but anyway, I noticed this post and thought I'd share the name of a drug I've used before for nausea (completely unrelated to IBS though). I was in South Africa and had a really nasty bout of gastroenteritis - managed to get so dehydrated that the doctors said I was about two hours away from being past the point of no return  Suffice to say, my gut was in bad shape for a while but they prescribed Valoid. It was amazing - within an hour I went from feeling like I would blow chunks at any second to being relatively normal (at least in the nausea dept.). Unfortunately I've not been able to get it over here in the UK but there's probably other products that use the same ingredient - cyclizine hydrochloride. Id' speak to your GP about the active ingredient and see if there's anything similar available.

Ive ben struggling with upper abdo pain and extreme nausea for about 2 years now. I feel sick all the time. Its got so bad that ive even though about suicide on occasions. My doctor has prescribed these drugs today and after taking just two I started to feel a little worse. Could this be due to the drugs? I think he is just guessing at what may be wrong as i have had no investigation other than a stool sample ps. I also have an extreme phobia of being and feeling sick. I cant sleep or eat at the moment and this is really starting to control my life.

I have suffered from most of the syptoms listed here - I personally find Ginger a great help, one spoon in a glass of fizzy water helps reduce sickness.

Peppermint Tea help with the IBS - id much rather take herbs that Drugs.

Im trying Goksura + Juniper to try and break up any stones.

Hello,

I totally understand all of you. I have struggled with nausea all my life and I am completely horrified of vomiting. Four years ago the nausea has become worse. I thought I could share some medications that have been of great help for me. Since I have IBS I have taken simultaneously Trimebutine and for the nausea I have found that what works best for me is Levosulpiride (it helps empty your stomach faster). Another medication that has helped me with Nausea is Metoclopramide (although it can have some side effects) and although I have taken Mebeverine and at first it helped with my nausea, after a while it stopped working. I hope this can help some of you. I wish you all good luck! smile

Lucigracia - did you post as Marcela on AN IBS group website, as she also was helped by Levosulpiride and Trimebutine? i am asking as I would be keen to know if these two drugs helped more than one person with chronic nausea.

Has anyone here found a reason for their chronic nausea please?
