Ibs is it linked to lichen

Hi only been on treatment topical corticosteroid and hrt for a couple of weeks and am showing symptons of ibs interested to know if anyone else have experienced this.

Hi valerie, I've not heard of a connection between IBS and the steroid cream and so I wonder if it is the hrt that you are taking, or of course it could just be a coincidence.

Maybe a gluten intolerance...celiac disease. Rather than IBS......

I've had ibs for a long time, but definitely not in response to corticosteroid. And I haven't taken hrt for decades. But I have both ibs and LS, and have had for about the same time.

For ibs, suggest you consult a natural practitioner who can test you for food  or other sensitivies. I've been told by m;y practitioner that ibs is a result mainly of stress - either emotional, environmental or from food sensitivity or all of the above!

With retiring to cottage country and radically rearranging my diet, the ibs has been under control for years now,  getting better.  When my ibs is under good control, my LS is better too (for the most part)

Since lichen sclerosus is an auto-immune disorder, I'm pretty sure it's also linked to stress.

Hi Jane will try giving up gluten and see if my symptons improve. Have been eating more bread and biscuits and it does coincides with symptons , many thanks .

Jane, if there is celiac, one would would feel gravely Ill. IBS is often stress triggered, LS is stressful as are hormonal changes and the side effects of HRT. I also happen to have IBS, and can assure you that not eating gluten, conventional cow dairy or raw vegetables helps IMMENSELY with IBS. Also you could look at trying the paleo diet for 3 months then slowly bring back certain foods

I AM CELIAC, positive diagnosis, and Never experienced extreme, overt symptoms. Symptoms....mimic IBS... just sayin'

Hi Jane, thanks for letting me know! I didn't mean to be a know it all. I have several celiac friends and they all get extremely ill when they ingest gluten, I get bloated/stomach ache and some pain but was tested negative for celiac, thus I have gluten intolerance and stay clear. hugs to all my LS warriors.

Amazon.com cares a capsule that really helps with celiac.   I don't take it often, but there are times when we go somewhere and there are no gluten free options!
