IBS or CPPS (chronic pelvic pain syndrome)

I have an almost constant dull ache in my pelvic region. It doesn't get better or worse with a bowel movement. My GP thinks it's connected to my prostatitis but I'm worried it could be a sign of IBS. Does anyone have any ideas?

well, i have ibs and also have that same feeling. It actually started about the same time. Ive seen improvement with eliminating certain foods

Pain usually gets temporarily better after a bowel movement with IBS. I experience lower abdominal pain with my IBS but not pelvic pain. However, everyone is different and you can get pain just about anywhere. If you have change of bowel habit, and pain that moves about, these are signs of IBS.Sometimes the pain can be come and go or constant. I would ask your doctor about IBS if you have the symptoms I have mentioned.

What other symptoms do you have that accompany the pelvic pain?

I don’t have pain that shifts around and that is partially relieved by a bowel movement. I have been getting a lot of gas though and more regular bowel movements than normal. My doctor thinks it’s all connected to depression/anxiety and thinks it’ll improve once those symptoms start to.

IBS can also be linked to depression and anxiety. Perhaps ask for tests to rule out other causes.

I thought that it can bring on a flare up or make symptoms worse, I didn’t think it was the actual cause?

Anxiety is only one of the causes of IBS. There is no one single cause. Some people get IBS as a result of anxiety or stress, food poisoning/stomach infections or even abdominal surgery. Everyone’s cause is different.Anxiety can trigger IBS flare ups and make them worse. My cause was stress and anxiety.

with pelvic pain…i also had gas. sometimes the pelvic pain radiates through my thighs and groin area. Its like a cramp/sore kind of feeling. I have alternating bowel habits as well as occasional nausea but the pelvic pain drives me crazy
