ibs triggered by exercise?

Has anyone found their ibs is made worse by exercise? I know gentle exercise is good for keeping bowels moving etc, but I have noticed I sometimes get worse at the weekend- this is when I do my most strenuous exercise. I originally thought it was because I'm a bit more lax with my diet at the weekend, but I did a fairly hard session last night and have been bad today. Could be coincidence but I'm wondering if the blood flow restriction and return to the gut whilst exercising could be causing the flare?

I wouldnt think so. Ask your GP.

Exercise improves IBS.  If you are more lax with your diet at the weekend, this is more likely the cause.  However, ask your doctor because everyone is different with IBS.

This is really not helpful. I asked if anyone had experienced it. Gp's are rubbish at dealing with ibs.

Yes I had to give up running but walking is fine and I do not just mean down to the shops.

My GP admits himself he is rubbish with IBS. They rely on us to meet them half way.  I think strenuous exercise can be problematic.  Running jogs the body more than walking.

yup, when i used to run i would find that it was very effective for when i had constipation lol
