IBS?

Hi,

I'm new here and just got back from the hospital after giving a number 2 sample.

I am a worrier and found this forum so thought I'd post if that's ok for some advice.

Basically over the last 9 months I have had bouts of diarrhea that have lasted for a week, only ever in the morning after getting up. I have always checked for blood but so far never seen any.

The same happened again last week (this is about the 4th time) but this time i have had permanent tummy ache and feel sick with it. The tummy ache has a few sharp random pains thrown in too and can be in my back or abdomen or shoulder blades but mostly my stomach.

I have had two other times when I have felt sick and stomach ache in the last few months but I attributed this to a bug.

I am on opremazole for acid indigestion too which I have been on for a couple of years off and on.

I have not lost any weight but it's only the last two days I haven't felt like eating. I am also overweight which could be a factor?

Anyone else had these symptoms? Any replies gratefully received.

Thanks.

it could be IBS - it could be stress - it could be diet - it could be all sorts of things - and it could be nothing. the important thing is you're getting it checked out professionally. remember this is a support forum, we're not Doctors so anything you read here should be taken in that context whilst you listen to those in the know: Hospitals, Doctors, Specialists etc

As an aside, when my IBS really flares up I go hot, sweaty, my gut burns and my head goes "walkabout" - it gets us all in different ways. I ahve an intoelrance ( and loving) for dairy products, especially cheeses so I've had to switch to Lactofree products.

Keep up with the diagnosis from the experts adn support from this forum

The other thing that you might want to do is try the ibs network. They're based in Sheffield and there's lots of advice on their website, plus you can ask a doctor questions and ring an advisor.

It's a membership charity so if you want to do that you have to pay, but we've found it helpful, they give you loads of advice too.

Hi yesi I  think it's stress doing it to you I'm okay one day then different the next the bowels react this way ,never a problem that way till I got a virus then tinnitus and a balance prob lem followed on behind the bug and then anxiety So I think you've got it stress related and like you again I get a gastric problem  all stress related.  Not easy this hey Dorset lady I am are you ?
