Does anyone else suffering from IBS find that they cant finish a meal.I start eating and half way through feel full up. I am now trying smaller meals. Some days I am fine other days my stomch hurts after I have eaten.
I do. I find I have to eat small little portions and not much, or I feel sick. I find that I only eat when I feel hungry.
Unforntunatly thats just a common ibs problem. The best thing to do is eat little and often of good nutritious high calorie foods. So you still get your daily calories and nutrients from food but you arent overloading your system. Try getting nutritional calories from good carbs and meats and dont worry so much about fruits and veg with meals, ive found a good method is to blitz a few fruits and veggies together in a blender and drink them . Counts as a good snack between meals and you get all your nutrients from the fruits/veg also. Then at meal times you can just worry about eating proteins/carbs and essential fats. I do believe that this is a real problem youre going through but when I said this to my dr they suggested it was heighten by stress and i do feel a part of it was. Stressed because of the everyday things in my life and then additionally stressed because I was struggling to eat food. Make yourself a small meal or one food you really like and see if you can finish it, even if you eat half and keep the other half warmed up to eat about 1 hour later. Ive found this helps also if i spilt meals as im not putting so much pressure on my stomach. Finally dont worry yourself if you cant eat/finish a meal. Just make sure that food doesnt become a pressure for you because if stress is a trigger that will only make it worse. Buy yourself some high calories but healthy (if that makes sense) cereal/snack bars and always have one handy if you get peckish. Eating that is better than eating nothing afterall. ![]()
Thank you very much for your reply. Dont feel on my own now I have read this. I will try small meals. Like you say putting stress on yourself at mealtimes is part of the problem.
