can anyone give me tips please ibs sufferer 6 years and getting worse bad days im bed ridden some days with bad bloating and pains so bad. im not sticking to a diet and diet tips please
Try the Fodmap diet.
I agree with Pippa. Following the Low FODMAP diet rigorously worked wonders for me. I do advise, however, that you follow the diet in every detail if you are to identify what, if any, food triggers you have. In my case onions mushrooms and garlic are no go areas, and I can only tolerate small amounts of gluten. I doubt if I would ever identified those foods as aggravating my IBS if I hadn't followed the Low FODMAP eating plan.
It's certainly worth a try.
I do not follow a set diet but I do drink a lot of water and try to cook from scratch. I also walk about 20 - 25 miles a week. Prior to this I did not work for a year as I could not leave my place as I was always ill. I lay much of the improvement in increased exercise. I eat salad rather than sandwiches which I was eating previously and I eat fruit salad in the evening. Like I say I do not follow a low whatever diet as I am so picky with my food so I try to eat what I can and hopefully I can manage the condition. So far so good and back at work for 8 months now. I find dieting very difficult so I do not do it and talking to some fitness person the other day and they said if you add in the right amount of exercise then you should not need to diet unless you are following a specialist diet that is.
