IBS

Looking for some reassurance or advice! I’ve had IBS for 20yrs and it’s symptoms have consisted of diarrhoea, severe bloating, trapped wind, constipation, severe abdominal pain and pelvic pain. But in the last 18 months the symptoms are those above but with a tremendous urgency to pee all of the time, almost every 10-15 minutes. I’ve had a urinalysis and urethal scope and all clear and also the normal bloods and ovarian and kidney scans and all normal. But this is just so miserable. It feels like it’s irritated like my bladder is also in spasm and inflamed and at my last GP visit I was prescribed medication to stop an over active bladder but haven’t started it yet.

Has anyone else experienced or experiencing these symptoms?

Hi Jo-Anne, your not alone, i'v had a touch of ibs most of my adult life, about 3years now been bad, so I started avoiding gluten, wheat, dairy etc, been 5 weeks now, and never looked back! Still get trapped wind! Normal bowel movements, I think your bladder is being squeezed by muscles in spasms, i'v just had full blood tests, and normal, including gluten tests, but still get spasms in stomach and back.

Thanks Frederick! I know there’s nothing sinister going on but it’s just so debilitating and even find myself avoiding social situations because of it..very miserable! Yes, I’m trying the dairy free diet but find it hard resisting the gluten as I adore bread!! Ive also started taking a good probiotic which seemed to really help and then I relapsed. It’s just good to know it’s not serious I suppose. Hope you find something to relieve your spasms! P.s I also find taking an antihistamine helps my IBS symptoms.

A sensitive bladder can happen with IBS. Start your medication!
