I take lisinipril every morning. 8 weeks post op RTKR and I'd really like to take an inuprophen just once for inflammation. I take about 3000 mg a day of Tylenol xtra strength and melatonin at night but I'm searching for some inflammation relief between icing. Any comments?
Tumeric is a natural anti-inflammatory best absorbed with black pepper. There ar capsules available with the perfect formulation fornabsorption. . Check with your doctor or pharmacist about adding medications. Tylenol, Advil, aleve are hard on liver function overdosing or long term use can affect the liver. Be sure to let your doctor know as liver function tests may be ordered. Good luck!
MY husband takes lisinipril. His cardiologist let’s him use ibuprofen and naproxen. Tylenol doesn’t give anti inflammatory relief. Basically, it did nothing for me. When I had my TKR 14 months ago, I took naproxen alternately with the oxycodone. Call your cardiologist to make sure about taking the naproxen. Also, that seems like a really high dose of Tylenol.

Voltaren Gel...GREAT topical anti-inflammatory...RX in the US. Three THOUSAND mg/day of acetaminophen could have negative impacts on your stomach. There has to be a better way.
Hi Colleen X you can buy Cupronul over the counter at the chemist but before you do ask the pharmacist about them first Naproxen are bad for you I was took off them on Doctors orders, or ask your GP about ibrobrufen see if they will give you a perscription for some.
good luck let me know how you get on.
I never exceed 3000 mg in 24 hours but, I do think I will make an appt w my GP. She prob misses me anyway. I will also research that gel. Thanks
Lisinopril is a blood pressure med and has nothing to do with pain relief. I've taken it for over 20 years. Try Aleve, its a 12 hr form of naproxen, an anti inflamatory
Yes, lisinipril is for blood pressure but anti inflammatories reduce the effectiveness of blood pressure meds - I noticed a really difficult change when I had to skip my bp meds before surgery as I was given anti inflammatories beforehand. I'll just ice this out I guess- I'm not dying
Interesting....I've taken Lisinopril for 20 years at least and been told use aleve for years . Maybe its on individual basis but I'm going to check w my Dr.
Ok- I wouldn't mind hearing what you find out
I asked our Dr about this today. He is an internal medicine specialist. His comments were: no, the Aleve nor any of the family of nsaid antiinflammatories would have have any affect on the drug Lisinopril, however; If you are on them for an extended period of time, you need to make sure you monitor your kidney functions as they can be damage d
Yes yes this is the direction I want to go. I don't want any more pills, pain relievers or anti-inflammatories. (Except for prescribed bp med)What I am going to start today is Arnica gel. My knee feels like it's healing and I think The Tylenol is no longer as effective as it first was. I do believe it's all about the inflammation right now and I think the arnica may be able to help that
True. My wife cannot take any NSAIDs because they through her kidney function numbers out of whack. Have to monitor the BUN and Creatinine levels.
