Hi guys, so today went to ent and told me I have lpr. However no test was done. He basically just looked inside my throat with a light. Not sure if that is standard!?!?? Or if I should request to see another dr.
My next question is does anyone deal with this the natural way with no medication?
And any suggestions on foods breakfast dinner or lunch. And has anyone tried probiotics? Any help with me appreciated
hi magali, when i went to a well regarded ent he asked me some questions and then looked down my nose with a camera to get a better look at my throat. however, he stated his questions are what made his diagnosis. prez obama was in the doctors office for only 15 minutes total before he was diagnosed with acid reflux (ar). in my opinion ar his highly misdiagnosed so if your doc did it right i would stick with him. ar is an epidemic, which is often dealt with drugs mainly. this is a diet and behavior issue. good news for those who are able to stick with a diet and lifestyle that conforms to it. bad news once you have throat or esophagues damage it takes a long time to heal it and may never be the same. with the correct diet and lifestyle your symptoms will quickly subside if not go away, but as mentioned the throat is what lags behind in healing.
get a book written by koufmann called; dropping acid. she is the world renowned expert in this area. prop your head board on your bed up at least 4 inches. some use bricks or books until you can buy a bed that raises it up. i use a wedge as a pillow, but raising the bed would be better. bend down at the knees only. don't lay down until at least 3 hours after eating. exercise on an empty stomach. examples of what i eat. old fashioned oatmeal for breakfast with 1% milk. lunch skinless chicken with rice and veggies. dinner is simple a cheese sandwich using oatmeal bread. i drink 1% milk for all meals. some will disagree with me on the milk. once you read the book it will reafirm my reasoning.
i took pepcid ac for 2 days and woke up one morning with numb legs, which is a side effect. i never took another drug. ar is very complex and can cause a varied amount of side effects just look on this board. so some may need to take drugs even with the right diet. however, i do believe most choose to eat whatever they want. just watch larry the cable guy on his commercials on youtube. as you heal and read the book you will learn more about what causes you issues. you will also be able to loosen up on the diet.
i have been using and making probiotics for 15 years, but not for ar just for a healthy diet. there will be a lot of internet info. on using herbs to help. i personally found diet and lifestyle the only fix.
for the first several weeks i would not deviate from the diet she specifies. however, as time goes on you can reintorduce the foods you really miss in small amounts to see how you deal with them. for me chocolate (non dark) and tomatoes are no big deal. however, garlic and oranges are a big problem. i don't miss garlic at all, but when you go to the store try to find packaged foods that don't contain it. it's in almost everything. also, eating out will become more complex. just think positive.
