Being confirmed herpes positive and my BF regularly having coldsores, does this mean: 1. I'm most likely to have contracted it herpes via his colesores? And 2. He already carries the virus so I cant do him harm?
It all comes down to which version of the virus each of you has.
There’s HSV1 which usually causes coldsores on the lips but occasionally infects the genitals
Then theres HSV2 which is the opposite. It usually causes genital outbreaks but can occasionally infect the lips.
If you both have the same version then one of you could have given it to the other, but you are now both immune and cant re-infect one another at a different site.
On the other hand if one of you has HSV1 and the other has HSV2 neither of you has given it to the other. The bad news is that you are at risk of passing it on to one another because there’s no cross immunity.
So what types do you have?
do you have hsv 1 or 2 ? is it on your mouth or genitals?
