i thought id just like to tell anybody or everybody about my first experience with both the gastroscopy and colonoscopy that i had this morning…being only 29 i was very anxious and nervous about having both on the same day and with out sedation as id been referred on the two week cancer pathway for symptoms to do with bowel cancer and or stomach cancer…just to anybody whos feeling the same way i was dont fret about it honestly id worked myself up over the last couple of weeks to the point i didnt think id return from…sitting in the ward with my gown and stylish shorts on was probably the longest hour of my life but honestly all the staff and consultants went above and beyond to elevate my fears…im not going to lie the gastroscopy is not the best thing ive ever done but its do-able the worst part for me was the constant gagging..but its over so quickly its easy to forget…the colonoscopy honesty i hardly even felt…the worst part was the cramps going round the corner maybe 20 seconds of uncomfort followed by absolutley nothing no pain even when taking the biopsies honestly if your sat at home now and your waiting to go in dont fret about it…its over pretty quickly and you get your results pretty much there and then..and to repeat myself i had no sedation and was up and discharged with my notes in ten minutes..after reading posts on here for weeks honestly i was scared stiff but literally concentrate on your breathing and youll be fine couple of hits on the gas and air and your good to go…NHS DESERVE MORE CREDIT THAN THEY GET…just finished a dominoes after not eating for 29 hours and having the prep was probably one of the greatest meals i had…please dont worry just get it over and done with ul be glad when its over and youll think to yourself what was all the fuss about…
