Hi IceLady, I'm 36 now but I've had Fibromyalgia since I was 14.  If you're anything like me you will go through different phases of how much it affects you.  When I look back there were definately some years it was less inhabiting than others.  I am Lyrica along with a mixture of others because I also have ME.  Lyrica has been making a difference.  The one that made the most almost instant difference was Amilipterine (spelt wrong) the little blue tablets. I started on one every night and am now upto 3 each night.  The stiffness in the mornings has greatly been reduced.

In terms of meal preperation can you pace it?  Yes I used that wonderful word pacing - hee hee. Can it be done in stages? Prep a maybe vegs before college. Slow cooker the days when you have more on at College that day?  Have take away on the really busy days, not saving it just for a weekend treat when you are both home and more time available to cook?

A counsellor I saw recommended write down the problem.  Write at least 6 ways of solving it (even if some impossible). Then write down against each who needs to be involved to solve it & the pros/cons of doing it.  After that compare each option and maybe talk through them with hubby or a friend.  Sometimes the answer(s) then seem obvious.

I think if the medicines aren't definately going to hurt you then give them a try.  They'll start you at a low dose then wait and see.  Good Luck x

I would say try it, you will never know if it would have worked if you don't. Keep a close eye on anything that could be a side effect, if there are serious side effects go straight back to your doc. I think I was about your age when I started with fb, I always had aches and pains, I was probably put down as a hypochondriac by the docs back then. I have tried everything the doctors can offer, some worked some didn't, give it a go.

take care of yourself, rest whenever you can.

all the best

I also believe that I had fibro in my 20's but back then your were just dismissed as a silly women. I had pain on and off but I also had remission in my 30's-late 40's. Now it is back with a vengence. I am 53 (have been "Diagnosed" for 4 yrs) and considered disabled but I am still fighting the goverment for my social security (which I paid into). I take a very high dosage of Lyrica, Trazadone (to help with sleep) and Oxycodene (for break through pain). I would advise you to "Pace" yourself (which is crazy hard when you are used to go go go). Learn your limits. This is another hard one. Listen to your body. I use a journal to document acitvity, pain level, and any changes in meds and side effects that you notice. Attitude is EVERYTHIING. Try to be positive (can be hard). Don't be afraid to ask for help and remember that there are people out in the world that do FULLY understand what you are going through.

Take Care
