got pain around the knee as well cant find anything to say its related
Leah,
I hear ya on the knee pain. It wasn’t until I was home for a couple days (3 in hospital) that my sister and I realized the knee pain must be from the surgeon using the knee as a fulcrum of sorts to pop the ball out of the socket. I actually had fingerprint bruises! It gets better… Good luck,
Melanie
it will get betterHANG IN There
hi im 37. had a hip replacment dec 2017. i came home the next morning and had to climb a flight of stairs. was then stuck upstairs for about 4-5 days as pain amd swelling became so bad. i was also on codine and oramorph. i was off everyrhing complelty within 2 weeks. just keep moving even if it hurts as otherwose the stiffness becomes more painful. do all the exercises and ice as often as you can and keep leg up. hope it starts to feel better soon.
ice ice and more ice, constantly. hope you feel better soon.
Well done for getting through the worst of it!
Yes for the first week it is very tough going. I am 42 and just had my second replacement, so I feel your pain literally.
-
Make sure you ice your leg. Get some peas and cover with a teacloth and press on the most painful part. It works wonders. Elevate your leg to bring down the swelling.
-
Use laxatives and stool softeners as the pain killers are likely to cause constipation
-
Rest and rest and rest some more, this is the best advice. It will get better
Do you have sheepskin or similar to protect the soles of your feet?
I can only tell you it DOES get better, and you will break through this stage soon. Big hugs.
