so.. wow im confused. i had white spots on my tonsils, a very sore throat & just very sick. i went to see the dr at after hours ... he looked at my throat, and touched my throat , then prescribed me erythromycin for strep throat right away. he took a swab to be sure and it was sent off. 2-3 days later (yesterday) i went to the hospital (due to loss of hearing and pain in my right ear) she told me i had fluid in my middle ear but didnt see any infection.. my test results had come back and it tested NEGATIVE for strep. the doctor at the hospital told me that i probably have mono or some sort of virus. so i stopped the meds given to me as antibiotics only help with bacterial infections. i woke up this morning (missing 2 doses) and the white dots were back. i am so confused as to what is going on. these meds took away the white spots , & after missing 2 doses they came back. so i put myself back on the meds as they seem to work. i am just confused .. it cant be viral or the meds wouldnt be getting rid of the spots . and if it isnt strep? what is it. my braaaain :((((
could be tonsilitis the symptoms are very similar to strep. Its your tonsils reacting to bacteria in the same way they do to strep. Also the reality is there are germs/bugs/bacteria out there that simply havent been identified and just because the strep test was negative doesnt mean it wasnt some sort of bacteria strep is just the most common. The same thing happened to me a few years back white spots on tonsils, they were swollen, and bad sore throat strep test was negative. Antibiotics knocked it out in a day or two. Nothing to worry about if it reoccurs again within a few months you may consider having tonsils removed.
