I'm back a Fully Fledged Hippy

Well everyone here I am on Day 5 post op. I feel fine just a very tired and I can stand up straight I am so pleased,,, no pain anymore my brother in law remarked yesterday that the old Gill was back. He was so right I seem to be continually smiling... I am at home now enjoying the time with my lovely partner Alan who  is as excited about the future now as I am. I had a spinal block for anyone who is interested this is the best way forward in my opinion. I also had flotrons on my legs. The only fly in the ointment to all of this is that I have to have Clynex injections twice a day for the next 25 days (24 now) but hey ho it can't all be roses. I am giving them to myself as all you friends on here suggested, don't like it, but it's not forever. Excersises being done.. little walks... the other thing is that I have to get up about every 2 hours during the night to go to the toilet, hopefully that won't last either... sorry if this is all jumbled but need to go rest just wanted to let you all know I am back and ok. any questions I'll answer later lol after my sleep. Keep smiling everyone just like me....

Great news - glad everything went well!

excellent news - rest and listen to your body and before you know it you will be dancing at the disco like me

Welcome home Gill and welcome to the club.  Ah yes I rememebr the 2 hour peeing, think the injections contribute a bit. Think they should just give us a catheter for a few weeks to ease our burden.   Being a positive person you will come on in leaps and bounds (figuratively speaking) I am now week 10 and although great improvements still have pains when do too much.  Concentrating on the given exercises and doing them slowly to make sure I hold the position for a few seconds - ouch.  Glad i do not have any new ones to do until the bad leg catches up with the good leg.  Enjoy your sleep and I am off out to enjoy a 3 mile walk

Take care xx

Hell Gill I've been wondering how you were getting on.  Sounds like you are doing really well!  So pleased for you.  Onwards and upwards now smile  I had the spinal block too with sedation so I wasn't aware of anything and it is so much better than a general anaesthetic which can make you feel so awful afterwards.  Not nice to have to do those injections,  I think the tablet option is so much better but it seems that not all hospitals offer that alternative.  I am now on day19 and improving every day, just still a bit scared of slipping or falling over but apart from that am doing most things except bending over to pick things up off the floor. The grabber stick is a Godsend and I have a lovely labrador who I have taught to pick things up off the floor for me and give them to me, everything from a piece of paper to my grabber stick if I drop it!  I found I had to get up in the night for the toilet which is not something I usually have to do but that necessity seems to have worn off now.  All the best to you and keep smiling xx

Three miles!!   Wouldn't like to come and get my dogs would you lol

Awesome news. Getting your life back is so worth all the worry pre surgery.

I am on day 15 I find the only pain I am getting is top of the thigh, this morning went shopping to lidls and as I walked round the pain did get easier but last night when I went to bed I got muscle spasms. I too had the spinal block with sedation and the airbags on my legs and I am on tablets in stead of injections it would be nice to chat to you in person here is my e mail address if you give your phone no I will ring you love lyn xx

Oooh no they might knock me over as I'm only little. Xx

See. .see we all said you'd be fine! Onwards and upwards!! As with most things...chocolate usually helps!!

Hi Gill

So please to hear your doing OK, I'm fine myself except for a cracked femur but they managed to fix it so it just a bit longer on crutches for me.

I afraid up every 2 hrs in night is normal but time will soon pass.

Think its the blood thinners.

Now's the time for rest, little exercises and spoil yourself.

sending hugs you way

Angela I had a cracked femur too but it was wired which I was told would be even stronger in the end! Couldn't weight bear for 6 weeks so it did take a bit longer but everything absolutely fine now...that was Feb 2014!!

Hi crispy_wissy thanks for that, they told me the same but its.

good to hear from someone it has happened to and has recovers

Op was weds so early days yet but feeling good.

welcome back Gill!  my thoughts have been with you.... so glad you are feeling much better, it gives me some hope. Still waiting for my op. date, glad the operation went well!!!!   take the best of care, rest and  get plenty of sleep...   look forward to hearing from you again.lol

Sorry crissy_wissy

kinda liked crispy!!

WELL DONE Gillcat! We have been thinking of and wondering how you are, so glad to hear from you. Rest up and do please share an update on your progress. Big hugs!

Great news - was wondering how you were getting on.  My hospital advised that they would not be prescribing injections for the anti coagulants but instead are moving to Pradaxa tablets which I like the sound of!

Hope you continue to improve - my op is tomorrow - gulp.

Well done gillcat, so pleased you are out the other side and smiling.  Take is slow and steady and going to the loo every couple of hours will get less as time goes on.

Have a nice rest

Regards  Nadine x

Glad to hear all went well.  Take it easy, little and often of everything,  onwards and upwards from now on.
