I'm Back!

Hi all,

Last year I had my RTHR and it was fine, but then weeks later I fractured my greater trochanter and still have to use a crutch as it's inoperable.

Now I have to have my left knee replaced and I was wondering if anyone knows of a similar helpful site to this one.

Thanks in advance!

Love, Annie x

Theres a knee forum on this site

Bonesmart has forums for both hip and knee replacement, and I highly recommend them. Just google bonesmart knee replacement forum. Or there is a link to BS in our own thread https://patient.info/forums/discuss/thr-useful-resources-487147

That's terrible about your inoperable trochanter break. You would think that medical science could do something about it! So sorry...

Hi Anna - what horrible luck with your greater trochanter and now a knee replacement!

You I'll truly be a bionic woman. I suspect I am headed down this road for me knee as well, but I am having my second THR late summer/early fall.

I wish you better luck and thank you for your posting which generated Bini's posting about Bonesmart.

Hi Annie. What are they doing for your fracture? I had one and they wired it up with titanium while doing lthr. Cindy

Hi Candy,

I was told that nothing could be done. Did you fracture your trochanter before you hip op? The fracture was diagnosed as muscle damage, but at my 6 month posted op check it was found that it's a fracture. Happy days!

Thanks for that info. Like to be as well prepared as possible!

Do hope your op goes well.

Sorry to hear about your knee, how did your water excersises go?

I have a review again in September with regards to my other hip, which is getting worse as we speak. But I wanted my holiday first, without restrictions this year:.We are off to the Isle of Wight in 2 weeks time.

Hi Annie : to try to answer your question, I don't know. I was told after the surgery that I had a fracture and that they wired it. It may have happened before or during the surgery. I guess they expect yours to heal on its own? What does that translate into insofar as your mobility and pain level? I feel for you. Wishing you a healthy recovery. You're in my prayers. Cindy
